Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II
At the beginning of May, we honor days that have special significance for every Ukrainian — the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II. This is a time of deep gratitude and reflection, when we remember the millions of dead, the destroyed destinies, and the extremely high price that humanity paid for peace.
Ukraine became one of the countries most affected by that war. Our people survived the occupation, losses, forced deportation, and the destruction of cities and villages. We bow our heads in gratitude to the feat of those who stood up and saved the world from Nazism.
Unfortunately, today the war has come to our land again — even more cruel and merciless. Ukrainians are once again forced to defend their freedom, independence and right to the future. In this struggle, we are losing the best – among them the teachers and graduates of our university, who stood up for the defense of the state. Their courage, devotion and self-sacrifice are a continuation of the heroic tradition of previous generations.
We remember the past in order to have the strength of the present and faith in the future.
Let the memory of the heroes’ feat live in our hearts, unite us and inspire us to be worthy of their sacrifice. We believe in the Victory of Ukraine and bring it closer every day with our joint efforts.
We wish everyone peace, strength of spirit, unity and unbreakable faith.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
