History of the Faculty

The Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics was established on July 1, 2024 by Order No. 272 ​​dated June 6, 2024. on the basis of the faculties of economics and management, international tourism and economics, as well as the departments «Entrepreneurship, trade and stock exchange activity» (faculty of construction, architecture and design) and «International economic relations» (faculty of humanities).

Today it is one of the largest and most powerful structural units of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University, which is headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Olena Vasilieva.

The task of training highly qualified specialists capable of effectively implementing the acquired professional competences in the modern business environment through the integration of business technologies in management, public management and administration, marketing, accounting, financial operations, business planning, entrepreneurship, customs activities, e-commerce, international economic relations is carried out by six departments of the faculty: «Economics and customs» (head of associate professor Andriy Sokolov), «Digital technologies in business and economics» (head of associate professor Denys Morozov), «Accounting and Finance» (head of associate professor Olena Lyshchenko), «Management and Administration» (head of professor Tetyana Pulina), «Marketing and Logistics» (head of professor Vladyslava Lyfar), «Business and Management» (head of professor Alla Tkachenko). Among the highly professional personnel of the faculty are 17 doctors of science, professors, 41 candidates of science, associate professors, 8 senior teachers, as well as experienced leading specialists of the dean’s office and departments.

The educational process and scientific research is provided by a professor-teaching team of like-minded people who have united to implement the mission and achieve the goal of the faculty of business technologies and economics – the development of a creative personality with an awareness of the economic way of thinking and its application for making informed decisions and responsibility for the performance of the company and its own business in the competitive environment of Ukraine and abroad with the aim of effective development of the country and improvement of living standards.

The faculty is developing a dual form of education, which allows students to acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills and real work experience in their field. Considerable attention is paid to the study of foreign languages, which gives students the opportunity to participate in academic mobility programs, to do internships abroad, to be participants in international conferences, grants, and projects. The competitive advantage of the training of faculty specialists is the practical orientation, which is aimed at meeting the requirements of customers of educational services and other interested parties.

In one year of its activity – the 2024-2025 academic year – the Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics has trained 105 masters and 128 bachelors, who today work in institutions, organizations, and enterprises both in Ukraine and abroad. Among the graduates are managers, managers and specialists of industrial and communal enterprises, banking and financial spheres, customs service and other state structures, as well as successful entrepreneurs.

The activities of the Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics are aimed at international cooperation by holding joint scientific conferences, promoting the publication of research results of foreign scientists in specialized Ukrainian publications and, accordingly, Ukrainian scientists in foreign publications, in particular those indexed in the international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science.

It was the Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics that became the main organizer of the International scientific and practical conference «Business ecosystems: sustainable development 2025» («Business ecosystems: sustainable development 2025» (BESD 2025)), which took place from February 3 to 7, 2025 at the National University «Zaporizka Polytechnic».

In the work of the conference Business Ecosystems: Sustainable Development was attended by more than 500 participants, including 344 authors who submitted their articles. The participants of the conference, in addition to Ukraine, were represented by many countries of the world: Azerbaijan, Canada, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Great Britain, the United States of America, and Uzbekistan.

At the Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics, an atmosphere is created to promote the active involvement of young scientists in the interaction between business, government and the scientific community, and a favorable socio-economic climate is created for the implementation of their scientific developments and innovative ideas. Thanks to the initiative group of the Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics, a regional innovation hub was created, the main areas of which are the formation of a regional support center for inventions, innovations and startup projects; functioning of the platform for educational and educational events in the field of innovation and intellectual property; creating a favorable environment for a community of innovators, creators, entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs. The decisive factor in the activities of the hub is the unification of young people and experienced experts in the field of entrepreneurship, meeting new like-minded friends, holding joint conferences, seminars, intellectual competitions and contests that provide an opportunity to analyze existing problems and find creative solutions in practice. The main task of the hub is to connect entrepreneurs, the university, international and national donor organizations to accelerate the transfer of information on inventions, innovations and startup projects; their introduction into the educational process and production. The staff of the faculty participated in the creation of the Startup School at the university, a modern educational, innovative and communication space, which will act as a platform for the interaction of creative youth, the scientific community and business representatives.

Professional guidance work is an important activity of the Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics. Schoolchildren constantly participate in scientific events of the faculty. The conference «Business Ecosystems: Sustainable Development 2025» (BESD 2025) presented the best works selected by experts during the autumn Night of Science. On February 6, a panel discussion for schoolchildren and students «My new Ukraine» was held, where young researchers from schools of the Zaporizhzhia region and various institutions of higher education made presentations. Their works covered a wide range of topics: ecology, energy, culture, transport, law, artificial intelligence, education, mathematics, psychology, media, economics, physics.

The faculty actively operates student self-government, the purpose of which is to protect the rights of students, defend their interests, take care of the realization of the right to participate in the management of the university, find and disseminate information about interesting opportunities and help students in self-realization. Every student has the right to participate in the student self-government of the faculty and the university.

The main goal of the Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics is to provide the necessary conditions for obtaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees of higher education, high-quality training of highly qualified scientific specialists based on the modern level of knowledge and scientific research, as well as the education of professionals who are able to work successfully in Ukraine and abroad.
