A workshop was held at Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University to mark the National Accessibility Week
As part of the National Accessibility Week, our university hosted a practical workshop aimed at raising awareness about inclusion and creating a barrier-free environment. The event, which took place at the FREETIME youth hub, was attended by students and staff of the Polytechnic.
The main goal of the meeting was to build empathy and understanding of the needs of people who face various limitations every day. The speaker of the event was Iryna Zhuk, the head of the NGO “Youth without Barriers”.
The following topics were discussed in detail:
– the main types of barrier-free access (architectural, digital, educational, social, etc.)
– rules of correct and respectful interaction
– features of using the “Dictionary of Barrier-Free Access”
– practical steps for creating an inclusive and comfortable space at the university
Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic consistently implements the principles of accessibility and equality. The experience gained by the participants will become the basis for the further development of inclusive culture in the academic community and the improvement of the educational space.
We thank the NGO “Youth without Barriers” for their cooperation, and all participants for their active position and willingness to jointly build a society of equal opportunities!
