The Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University presented the project “Not Lost Hope”

On November 26, the Scientific Library of the National University “Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic” together with the Faculty of Humanities held a creative meeting with Valentyn Terletsky – the author of the MTM channel TV project “Not Lost Hope”.

A writer, journalist, musician, author and host of the YouTube channel “Cossack Victory” and several documentary series, Mr. Valentyn drew attention to the problem of preserving the memory of objects of unique tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Southern Ukraine, which, after the occupation of most of the Zaporizhzhia region, were under threat of destruction or appropriation.

The “Not Lost Hope” project is six 15-minute documentaries films about the centuries-old identity of the Zaporizhia region: from embroidery and songs to Cossack crosses, the Stone Grave and stone “babs”. The goal of the project is to become a voice of truth about the cultural and spiritual tragedy unfolding in the occupied territories of the Zaporizhia region.

The event brought together students, teachers, university employees, as well as students and teachers of the Dniprorudna Specialized School “Talant”. One of the project films, “Secrets of the Stone Grave”, was presented to them, which reveals fascinating facts about a unique historical monument located near the city of Melitopol, a symbol of the ancient times of the Ukrainian people. Unfortunately, today this monument, which has the status of a National Historical and Archaeological Reserve, is cynically used by the Russian occupiers as a military base.

One of the key events of the event was the speech of famous Zaporizhzhia scientists: the head of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training Georgy Shapovalov and the associate professor of this department Volodymyr Chop, who participated in the filming of the film as experts. The scientists shared exclusive materials about their legendary archaeological expeditions to the Kamyana Mohyla Reserve and other notable cultural heritage sites of the Zaporizhzhia region. They raised important questions about the future of the Stone Tomb and revealed its ancient secrets, which it still keeps.

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Tetyana Khitrova, welcomed the participants and emphasized the value of the project.

The book exhibition “Zaporizhzhya Region: Treasury of Cultural Memory” was a harmonious addition to the event, which was presented by the head of the Scientific Library sector, Nataliya Fedko. A separate section presented the literary works of Valentin Terletsky, whose works are stored in our library.
