STEM Leadership: Innovative Lessons with Micro:bit
On June 3–4, the second wave of the training for teachers “STEM-leadership: innovative lessons with Micro:bit” took place at the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, which brought together motivated educators ready to introduce modern technologies into the educational process. Pro-Rector Andriy Ivanchenko welcomed the participants.
The training was attended by teachers from educational institutions in Zaporizhzhia and the region, in particular, Zaporizhzhia Academic Lyceum “Elint”, Zaporizhzhia Gymnasiums No. 12, 50, 62, 77, 94, Zaporizhzhia Specialized School with In-depth Study of a Foreign Language No. 7, Zaporizhzhia Specialized Boarding School “Sichovyi Collegium”, as well as Dniprodzerzhynsk Specialized School “Talant” and Melitopol Gymnasium No. 4. Such a wide geography of participants once again confirms the high interest of educators in the development of the STEM direction and the introduction of innovations in education.
The training program was developed and conducted by associate professors of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations – Olena Nazarova, Alina Kazurova and Volodymyr Osadchy, which ensured a combination of theoretical approaches with practical cases.
Over two days, participants:
– mastered practical programming using BBC Micro:bit
– created their own STEM cases for lessons
– developed mini-projects for students in grades 5–11
– explored the possibilities of integrating Micro:bit into interdisciplinary projects
– discussed effective methodological approaches to STEM training
The training ended with interactive activities on automation and mechatronics, the participants discussed the prospects for creating joint STEM activities and visited the Quantum Educational and Scientific Center for Experiments.
Following the results of the training, Vice-Rector Andriy Ivanchenko presented the training participants with certificates of advanced training.
