The Youth Climate Innovation Hackathon was held in Kyiv on August 28–29. Representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic were invited to participate by the Kyiv School of Energy Policy (KSEP).
At the initiative of the head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Devices Petro Andrienko and the associate professor of this department Olga Nemykina, two teams were organized to participate in the Hackathon.
The first team is master’s students of the electrical engineering faculties of the National Technical University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” and the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”. The team consists of: Artem Anulich (E-414m), Mykyta Shevchenko (E-414m), Igor Beznoshchenko (E-414ma), Ilya Babanin (E-815m), Anton Pankov (NTU “KhPI”). Young researchers took 3rd place.
The second team is undergraduate students from the Faculty of Information Security and Electronic Communications of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University and the Institute of Computer Modeling of Applied Physics and Mathematics of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. The team consisted of: Vyacheslav Trokhymenko (BK–313sp), Danylo Pletin (BK–913), Iryna Kulyk (CH–114), Oleksandra Nemykina (NTU “KhPI”). The team took 4th place and won the Audience Award.
The participants spent two busy days exploring the challenges associated with climate change: the processes of decarbonization of Ukraine and its sustainable reconstruction. They worked out practical ways to solve them using renewable and alternative energy sources. The teams represented various regions of Ukraine, so they were able to explore as many problematic aspects as possible, using interdisciplinary approaches.
Coordinated work, support from mentors, openness to new ideas are the main sources of inspiration for young researchers, and networking with young leaders, the opportunity to present their work to a professional jury, and high-quality feedback from experts is just the beginning, because thanks to a comprehensive approach, participants will be able to further develop their projects and ideas.
Thank you for the excellent organization: comfortable living conditions, delicious food, and a comfortable atmosphere for productive work were provided.

And on September 2, the rector of Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Greshta met with students who participated in the Hackathon. They presented their work and took part in a discussion of its individual aspects, which could potentially be implemented at the university. The rector supported the participants in their endeavors and emphasized the need for further expansion of participation in research work, in particular, he invited them to continue developing the topic of research in postgraduate studies.
