Opening of the Sustainable Urban Transport Laboratory SUTLab

On May 29, the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University officially opened the Sustainable Urban Transport Laboratory SUTLab.

SUTLab is a modern educational and scientific laboratory of the Department of Transport Technologies, created within the framework of the international project 101179915 – ISDEGO with the support of the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union. The project is aimed at the development of sustainable urban transport, the implementation of the principles of green mobility, the digitalization of transport systems and the updating of educational programs in the field of transport and logistics.

The laboratory is an educational and scientific base for the preparation of higher education applicants for educational programs in the field of transport and transport technologies. It is used for conducting laboratory and practical classes, performing scientific and research work, developing interdisciplinary interaction, as well as implementing modern approaches to the study of transport systems and urban mobility.

One of the key areas of the laboratory’s activity is supporting the principles of sustainable development and sustainable mobility. Its work is related to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 11 “Sustainable development of cities and communities”, which involves the formation of a safe, accessible and environmentally responsible urban environment.

The opening ceremony was opened by the rector of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Greshta. The Dean of the Faculty of Transport, Oleksiy Kuzkin, and the Head of the Department of Transport Technologies, Serhiy Turpak, delivered welcoming remarks and reports on the importance of the laboratory for the educational and scientific activities of the university.

During the opening, the equipment and software that will be used in the educational process and scientific work were presented:
– video detectors for analyzing traffic flows and monitoring the road situation
– Oculus VR headsets for visualizing transport scenarios and educational simulations
– software for transport modeling and studying transport flows

The SUTLab laboratory expands the possibilities of training students, conducting research, and implementing modern approaches to studying transport systems within the educational and scientific activities of the Zaporizhia National University Polytechnic».
