Participation of Zaporizhia Polytechnic University in the Polish-Ukrainian meeting of vice-rectors for scientific work of universities

On October 20-21, a joint Polish-Ukrainian meeting of university vice-chancellors was held in Warsaw. Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University was represented by the vice-rector for scientific work, Vadym Shalomeev.

The meeting was a continuation of the Joint Polish-Ukrainian Day as part of the project “Polish-Ukrainian cooperation of interested institutions representing rectors to improve the university’s activities” and marked the beginning of a new strategic initiative – the Polish-Ukrainian Advisory Group of Vice-Chancellors on Scientific Work. This group will function as a permanent platform for the development of bilateral scientific cooperation.

During the meeting, the CRASP and URHEIU delegations decided to create a Polish-Ukrainian bilateral platform of vice-rectors for scientific work. Its purpose is to support the development of joint research and expand the participation of scientific groups of both countries in international projects.

Continuous dialogue between vice-chancellors for science of Ukrainian and Polish universities, as well as representatives of such institutions as NCN, NCBR, NAWA and the Research Fund of Ukraine, will make it possible to coordinate systemic changes in the field of science, strengthen academic interaction and open new opportunities for international scientific teams.

The bilateral platform will focus on the following tasks:
– preparation and implementation of the necessary changes in the system of functioning and financing of science and innovation in both countries with the participation of the academic community and business
– activation of the exchange of best practices between Polish and Ukrainian universities in the field of knowledge and technology transfer at the university level
– exchange of experience in the field of intra-university strategies for supporting young scientists and attracting young talents to scientific activities
– exchange of experience in the field of participation of Polish and Ukrainian universities in regional development, in particular in the development and implementation of regional development strategies
– promotion of achievements and exchange of experience of Polish and Ukrainian universities under the CEEPUS programs
– promotion of the creation of horizontal thematic clusters and university networks for multilateral projects, in particular under the Horizon Europe program
