LEGO STEM laboratory for schoolchildren on the basis of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic
In June, during the summer camp, classes of the “STEM-Laboratory LEGO” group of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University “Zaporizka Polytechnic” took place in cooperation with the Educational Space “Action” of the Department of Education of the Energodar City Council.
Volodymyr Osadchiy, associate professor of the department of electric drives and automation of industrial installations, led the group. During the classes, the participants playfully learned the basics of robotics, programming and engineering using modern educational solutions for STEAM learning — innovative LEGO Education SPIKE Prime constructors.
While working with LEGO Education SPIKE Prime, students learned to assemble mechanisms, use sensors and create their own robotic models. Thanks to SPIKE App’s visual programming environment, participants easily mastered logic, algorithmic thinking, and creative problem solving. The group also developed teamwork skills among schoolchildren, because most projects were carried out in groups. All tasks of the circle are dedicated to the development of leadership potential and improving the skills of solving real engineering problems, which will be useful when choosing a future profession.
The designer opens the way to modern STEM professions and motivates students to explore the world of technology in a creative and fun way!
There will be more technical creativity together with the Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic!
