NCP "Research Infrastructures" is at the center of European security innovations: representatives of Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University took part in the international brokerage event SMI2G–2026 in Paris
On April 23–24, the head of the National Contact Point “Research Infrastructures” Dmytro Pavlenko and leading specialist Myroslava Shchetinina participated in the international brokerage event SMI2G-2026 (Security Mission Information & Innovation Group Event), which took place in Paris.
SMI2G–2026 is one of the key European brokerage events dedicated to research and innovation in the security sector within the framework of the Horizon Europe program. The event is organized by the EARTO Security Research Working Group in collaboration with the CMINE (Civil Security Mission Innovation Network Europe) network and traditionally brings together European innovators and practitioners to find partners, create consortia, and present innovative ideas and technologies.
The two-day program was opened by Marcel van Berlo, representative of the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research. Cédric Guyon-Lavoca, Deputy Director General for European and International Strategies of the Ile-de-France region, delivered a welcoming speech. Among the key speakers of the event: Yannis Skiadarezis, representative of the European Commission Directorate-General for Home Affairs, with a report on advancing EU security through foresight, research and innovation in the context of the new Multiannual Financial Framework; Lukasz Szklarski (ITTI, Poland) with a presentation of the CHIMERA project; Maciej Tusz, President and CEO of Magnitude Innovations, with a report on engineering and artificial intelligence.
Thematic sessions covered key areas of the security cluster: disaster resilience, infrastructure protection, border management, the fight against crime and terrorism, and cybersecurity. The panel discussion “From Innovation to Impact” brought together representatives of the law enforcement sector, civil protection, academic institutions, and innovative businesses from different EU countries. Special brokering sessions and networking allowed participants to hold bilateral meetings and discuss specific opportunities for future cooperation.
During the event, representatives of the NCP “Research Infrastructures” held a series of negotiations with leading European research organizations and innovative companies. New contacts were established with potential partners from EU countries who expressed interest in scientific and technical cooperation with Ukrainian research institutions. The possibilities of forming joint international consortia for submitting applications for Horizon Europe competitions have been explored.
The participation of the NCP “Research Infrastructures” in this event is part of the systematic work on integrating Ukrainian research organizations into the European Research Area and ensuring access to the most modern European research programs.
The NCP “Research Infrastructures” continues to actively promote the participation of Ukrainian scientists and organizations in prestigious European projects, providing professional support and consultations on opportunities for international scientific cooperation within the framework of the world’s largest research and innovation funding program!
