Associate professors of the Department of Psychology Kateryna Pylypenko and Tetyana Borodulkina, master’s students of the specialty «Psychology» Mariia Malynets, Svitlana Goncharova, Sabina Thissen, as well as graduates of the department of different years underwent scientific and practical training in the course «Combat Trauma: Individual Therapy» for 11 weeks (February-April) and recently received their certificates.

The course was conducted by leading international experts – Dr. Russell Carr and Dr. Gaea Logan.

This course was dedicated to deepening the understanding of the specifics of working with military experience and complex traumatic conditions. The program combined the theoretical basis and practical tools of individual therapy, which are critically important for effective assistance to defenders in modern realities. It was aimed at developing the professional competencies of specialists working with the consequences of combat stress, and at developing effective methods of supporting mental health.

The training was supported by the International Center for Mental Health and Human Rights, the International Institute for the Study of Trauma, and the Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University.

On June 12, an excursion to the Silpo themed store in the city of Dnipro took place!

The participants had the opportunity not only to see the unique design of the store, dedicated to the outstanding inventor Nikola Tesla, but also to learn many interesting facts about his life and scientific achievements.

During the tour, store representatives talked about the features of the Silpo concept, shared the history of creating the thematic space, and revealed interesting features and details that make this store special.

The participants learned more about the company’s activities, employment conditions, career development opportunities, and the benefits of working at the Silpo chain. Store representatives shared information about open vacancies and answered questions about working at the company.

Small buffets and refreshments were a nice addition, creating an even warmer and friendlier atmosphere.

On June 15, the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» took part in the Engineering Festival – 2026, which took place at Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 59 and brought together students, teachers, scientists and partners to popularize engineering education, develop technical creativity of youth and form interest in modern technologies and scientific research.

Our university presented two interactive locations — «3D Workshop» and «Science or Magic.»

The location «3D Workshop» was prepared by Serhiy Tanchenko, senior lecturer of the Department of Metal-Cutting Machine Tools and Tools, Mykhailo Frolov, head of the same department, and Dmytro Kozak, senior lecturer of the Department of Machine Parts and Lifting and Transport Mechanisms. The location «3D Workshop» was a workshop of modern technologies, where festival participants made an exciting journey into the world of three-dimensional modeling. Students got acquainted with the principles of operation of a 3D scanner, learned how digital 3D models are created and how they are embodied in physical objects using a 3D printer. Schoolchildren worked with elements of a specialized designer, developed by teachers themselves using 3D modeling and printing technologies. Thus, they developed spatial thinking, engineering imagination, and design skills.

At the «Science or Magic» location, senior laboratory assistant of the Industry 4.0 center Denys Kalinichenko, dean of the electrical engineering faculty Mykola Antonov, and associate professor of the department of electric drive and automation of industrial installations Olena Nazarova opened up the fascinating world of physics to schoolchildren through interactive demonstrations and experiments. Schoolchildren immersed themselves in the world of physics, electricity, and electrical engineering through vivid interactive experiments and practical experiments. They observed amazing manifestations of electrical and magnetic phenomena, investigated the properties of light and electromagnetic waves, and also learned how the principles of information transmission using electrical signals and Morse code work. Demonstrations of the conversion of electrical energy into mechanical, light, and heat energy helped them understand the operation of many modern devices. Through practical tasks and logic games, students were convinced that physics and electricity are the basis of most of the technologies that surround us in everyday life, and that complex scientific laws can be fascinating, understandable, and extremely interesting.

At the festival’s interactive locations, participants learned about electrical engineering, robotics, computer technology, and STEM fields, participated in creative locations, created airplane models, 3D pen crafts, and participated in scientific experiments.

From June 1 to 5, representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic — first vice-rector Serhiy Shilo, dean of the transport faculty Oleksiy Kuzkin, head of the educational and methodological department Andriy Parkhomenko, assistant professor of the department of software Anzhelika Parkhomenko, head of the department of scientific work of students Snizhana Vychuzhanina, v. at. Head of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications Serhii Samoylyk, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications, Deputy Secretary of the Admissions Committee Harry Moroz – at the invitation of our long-time partners from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM) took part in 20 International Week «Social and Cultural Skills for Staff in UPM Alliances».

The event was attended by representatives of universities in Spain, Italy, Egypt, France, Switzerland, Congo, Nigeria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland, Germany and many other countries that work within the framework of ERASMUS+ and other programs to learn about the activities of UPM, as well as to build relationships with partners within the EELISA Alliance (European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science).

The program of the week included meetings with heads of departments of the Polytechnic of Madrid, visits to various Schools, laboratories, participation in workshops, cultural and sports events. The Polytechnic of Madrid has an extensive structure consisting of 16 Higher Technical Schools, one Faculty and one Affiliated Center. In particular, the participants of the International Week visited: the Higher Technical School of Forestry and Natural Resources Engineers, the Higher Technical School of Architecture, the Higher Technical School of Construction, the Higher Center of Fashion Design, the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineers, the Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Systems Engineering and Informatics, the Higher Technical School of Agronomic Engineering, Nutrition and Biosystems, as well as the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences.

The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic was the only Ukrainian university that took part in the 20th International Staff Week at the Madrid Polytechnic. For this, special thanks to a reliable partner of our university, professor emeritus of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic David Luengo, who heads the Department of Audiovisual Engineering and Communications of the Higher Technical School of Engineering and Telecommunication Systems (ETSIST). Our cooperation began with the implementation of the joint international educational ERASMUS+ BIOART project «Innovative Multidisciplinary Curriculum in Artificial Implants for Bio-Engineering BSc/MSc Degrees» and continues within the framework of the ERASMUS+KA1 program.

The new ideas, knowledge and practical skills acquired by our representatives will be aimed at the further internationalization of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, the expansion of partnership relations, the improvement of the educational process and the development of potential!

NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» became a participant in the international Ukrainian-Norwegian educational and scientific project BioMedMat-UA – «Advanced Biomedical Materials and Engineering», which received funding within the framework of the Nansen EDU program of the Norwegian Directorate of Higher Education and Skills HK-dir.
The project is aimed at developing modern education, science and laboratory facilities in areas that are of particular importance for the recovery of Ukraine: biomedical materials, prosthetics, rehabilitation technologies, medical device engineering and additive technologies.

The BioMedMat-UA project will unite specialists from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and NTU «Dnipro Polytechnic». The joint work of the partners will be focused on strengthening the educational and research capacity of Ukrainian universities in the field of biomedical engineering, materials science, rehabilitation technologies, and modern production processes.

The project includes the development of laboratory infrastructure, the creation of new master’s courses, the updating of educational components, the strengthening of practical training for students, as well as the formation of a modern interdisciplinary environment in which materials science, biomedical engineering, additive technologies, and medical device manufacturing will work together.

For Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, participation in BioMedMat-UA is not only international recognition, but also an important step towards training a new generation of engineers. These are specialists who will have modern knowledge of materials, technologies, and equipment, and at the same time understand the humanitarian mission of engineering education in the context of the country’s recovery.

The participation of Norwegian partners in this project is not formal support from a distance, but real cooperation with Ukrainian universities working in regions directly affected by the war. This format of partnership demonstrates trust in Ukrainian education and science and a willingness to work together on long-term results.

On June 6, the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University took part in the Engineering Festival – 2026, which took place at the Zaporizhzhia Academic Lyceum No. 15 and brought together pupils, teachers, students and everyone who is passionate about science, engineering and modern technologies.

Our university presented two interactive locations — «RoboTech» and «Physics Magic.»

The festival participants were particularly attracted by the RoboTech location, which was prepared by associate professors of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations Olena Nazarova and Volodymyr Osadchy. Exciting interactive activities with controlling Lego robots, games and competitions with Micro:bit-based robocars were organized for schoolchildren. The participants also got acquainted with the STEM project EcoSmartBin, aimed at studying the current issues of waste sorting and recycling. Schoolchildren learned about the principles of operation of «smart» waste management systems and investigated the issue of manufacturing models of automated garbage cans. For future applicants, the teachers presented a model of an automated car wash based on a Siemens industrial controller, demonstrating the practical application of modern automation and mechatronics technologies in real production processes.

At the location «Physics Magic», senior laboratory assistant of the Industry 4.0 center Denys Kalinichenko opened the fascinating world of physics to students through interactive demonstrations and experiments. Festival participants watched experiments in optics that seemed like real magic, but in fact demonstrated amazing physical laws. Schoolchildren also tried their hand at logic games, learned how to transmit messages over a distance using Morse code, and got acquainted with the processes of converting different types of energy in practice. The location helped students to see that physics is not only formulas and problems, but an exciting science that explains the phenomena of the surrounding world and underlies many modern technologies.

During the day, 14 interactive locations were open, where participants learned about robotics, physics, computer technology, and STEM fields, participated in robot competitions, worked with digital microscopes, created airplane models, 3D pen crafts, and participated in scientific experiments.

On June 5, the youth section organized by the university’s student government took place for the third time at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Forum «Days of Educational Leadership – 2026». This year, the discussion platform was called «Students as Co-Creators of the University: Where Rules End and Opportunities Begin» and became a space for open communication, exchange of practical experience, and search for new solutions in the field of student government.

The youth section became part of a large-scale forum that brought together educators, scientists, government representatives, student activists, and young leaders from different regions of Ukraine. The participants focused on issues of developing the university environment, involving young people in decision-making, and strengthening the role of students as full partners in the educational process.

Anastasiia Steshenko, the head of the student government of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of the active civic position of students and their participation in the development of a modern university.

The key topic of the section was an open dialogue about the role of students in the higher education system. Representatives of higher education institutions from different regions of Ukraine shared their experience, practical developments and successful cases:
– Anastasiia Steshenko (Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University) presented student initiatives as an effective mechanism for transforming the university environment
– Bohdan Manin and Oleksandr Gurzhiy (NTU «Dnipro Polytechnic») raised the issue of interaction between student self-government bodies with the administration and communities
– Yevhen Petrushchenko (Tavria State Agro-Technological University named after Dmytro Motorny) shared his experience of transforming an online community into an active student movement
– Valentyn Chayka (Zaporizhzhia National University) spoke about the role of strategic vision in achieving real results.
– Darya Mudra (National University «Poltava Polytechnic named after Yurii Kondratyuk») presented practices for adapting student communities to modern challenges.
– Oleksandr Belov and Darya Kirov (Melitopol State Pedagogical University named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky) focused on the social leadership of students in war conditions
– Alisa Lyutova (Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after Hryhoriy Skovoroda) demonstrated how student initiatives become a driving force for positive changes in the educational space

The moderator of the youth section was Sofiia Stepanenko, Acting Head of the Educational Department of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.

After each presentation, participants actively participated in discussions, asked questions, compared the experiences of their universities, shared successful practices, and jointly sought ways to solve current problems of the OSS. It is in such open conversations that new ideas, future projects, and inter-university partnerships are born.

The youth section became not only a discussion platform, but also a space for the unity of student youth from different regions of Ukraine. Representatives of Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Poltava, Kharkiv, Melitopol and other cities had the opportunity to exchange experiences, establish new contacts and form a common vision of the development of student self-government in today’s conditions.

It is especially important that such a large-scale event took place in Zaporizhzhia. Despite all the challenges of wartime, the city continues to live an active student life. The youth of Zaporizhzhia is active, united and ready to take responsibility for the future of their universities and the country.

On June 5, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University became a platform for a large-scale professional dialogue about the future of Ukrainian education and science. The All-Ukrainian Forum «Days of Educational Leadership – 2026» united more than 1,000 participants from different regions of Ukraine — representatives of higher education institutions, state authorities, business, the scientific community, and student self-government — around the topical theme: «Between rules and reality: flexibility without loss of quality.»

The forum was held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Union of Regional Organizations of Employers of Metallurgical Complex Enterprises «Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine», the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Public Union «Zaporizhzhia Cluster »Engineering – Automation – Mechanical Engineering«» and SE «IVCHENKO-PROGRESS».

The participants were greeted by Viktor Greshta, rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, Yuliya Hryshina, head of the subcommittee on higher education of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, Mykola Trofymenko, deputy minister of education and science of Ukraine, and Olena Kolesnikova, head of the Industry Council for the Development of Professional Standards and Strategy for the Development of Professional Qualifications of the Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine.

A special event of the forum was the opening of the Center for the Engineering of Robotic Production Systems HI-RISE (High-tech Robotics Innovation & Systems Excellence). The new center is designed to become a center for the development of innovative technologies, robotics, engineering solutions and cooperation of the university with industrial partners, which is extremely important for the recovery and modernization of the Ukrainian economy.

The program of the event included the work of two discussion platforms. During the first panel – «Educational activity: quality, flexibility and a new model of university education» – the participants discussed the transformation of educational programs, an interdisciplinary approach to learning, the interaction of universities with employers, the impact of artificial intelligence on the educational process and the training of specialists in accordance with the needs of the modern labor market.

The second panel – «University scientific activity in new realities: performance, innovation, transfer and sustainability» – was devoted to the issues of development of university science, grant activity, implementation of innovations, cooperation with business and the use of modern digital technologies in scientific research.

Throughout the day, there were meaningful discussions, discussions of current problems and prospects for the development of education and science, exchange of experience between representatives of various universities and regions. This kind of open professional dialogue makes it possible to form new approaches, to give birth to common ideas and to find effective solutions for the development of the educational sector.

The forum once again confirmed the role of Zaporizhzhia as a powerful educational and scientific center of Ukraine. Despite all the challenges of today, the city remains a meeting place for the professional community, a space for the birth of new partnerships, the implementation of innovative projects and the development of youth and academic initiatives.

A special place in the program of the event was occupied by the youth section «Students as co-creators of the university: where rules end and opportunities begin», which united active student youth from different regions of Ukraine.

All-Ukrainian Forum «Days of Educational Leadership – 2026» became an example of effective cooperation between the state, universities, business and the student community. This kind of interaction today forms the basis for the development of quality education, competitive science and the training of specialists who will rebuild and develop Ukraine.

On May 29, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University officially opened the laboratory of sustainable urban transport SUTLab.

SUTLab is a modern educational and scientific laboratory of the Department of Transport Technologies, created within the framework of the international project 101179915 — ISDEGO with the support of the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union. The project is aimed at the development of sustainable urban transport, the implementation of the principles of green mobility, the digitalization of transport systems and the renewal of educational programs in the field of transport and logistics.

The laboratory is an educational and scientific base for the training of students of higher education in educational programs in the field of transport and transport technologies. It is used for conducting laboratory and practical classes, conducting scientific research, developing interdisciplinary interaction, as well as introducing modern approaches to the study of transport systems and urban mobility.

One of the key activities of the laboratory is the support of the principles of sustainable development and sustainable mobility. Her work is related to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 11 «Sustainable development of cities and communities», which provides for the formation of a safe, accessible and environmentally responsible urban environment.

The opening ceremony was started by Viktor Greshta, rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University. The dean of the transport faculty, Oleksiy Kuzkin, and the head of the department of transport technologies, Serhii Turpak, delivered welcoming words and reports on the importance of the laboratory for the educational and scientific activities of the university.

During the opening, equipment and software that will be used in the educational process and scientific work were presented:
– video detectors for traffic flow analysis and traffic situation monitoring
– Oculus VR headsets for visualization of transport scenarios and training simulations
– software for transport modeling and traffic flow research

The SUTLab laboratory expands the possibilities of training students, conducting research and implementing modern approaches to the study of transport systems within the educational and scientific activities of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University.

On May 28, students and graduates of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic held a meeting with representatives of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The guests of the event were:

– Valentina Drobna – inspector of the sector of the selection of the GUNP in the Zaporizhzhia region, senior lieutenant of the police

During the meeting, the participants familiarized themselves with current vacancies in the National Police system, learned about the specifics of the service, requirements for candidates and prospects for professional development in the law enforcement field.

The representatives of the police spoke in detail about the selection procedure, social guarantees, career growth opportunities and answered numerous questions of the students about building a career in the National Police of Ukraine.

The event was a great opportunity for young people to get practical information from specialists, talk with police representatives and learn more about employment opportunities after completing their studies!

On May 29, the Zaporizhzhia City Youth Center held festive events on the occasion of Days of Sustainable Energy. Zaporizhzhia is a signatory city of the European initiative «Agreement of Mayors on Climate and Energy», which unites local self-government bodies that have undertaken to implement the climate and energy goals of the European Union.

In order to fulfill the obligations of the Agreement of Mayors on Climate and Energy and to raise awareness of citizens in the field of energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy sources and the relationship between energy and climate change, the executive the committee of the Zaporizhzhia City Council annually holds Days of Sustainable Energy in the city of Zaporizhzhia. This event is a platform for demonstrating the community’s contribution to achieving the climate and energy goals of the European Union.

One of the key events of this year’s Sustainable Energy Days is the «Energy Manager for 1 Day» competition, which is held as part of the city event «EnergoDiya: Student = City Energy Manager». Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic was represented in the competition by the teams «TermoShyt» (Lilia Bilozub (BAD-114sp), Arina Bohma (E-514), Andriy Sandu (E-254)) and «WattStop» (Danilo Matyash (E-315m), Andriy Shakhanov (E-315m), Tymofiy Poleshko (E-313)) under the scientific guidance of the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Mykola Antonov.

A qualified jury from among specialized experts in the field of energy, energy efficiency, climate policy and education highly appreciated the work of our teams according to the following criteria: relevance of the problem, quality of analysis, innovative solutions, practical implementation, economic feasibility, quality of presentation and teamwork.

The «WattStop» team took 2nd place in the competition, and the «TermoShield» team brought the trophy to the university treasury for the 1st place.
