On July 14, representatives of the Energy Innovation Hub (EINHub) of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University — Pro-Rector, Head of the EINHub Andriy Ivanchenko and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, one of the managers of the EINHub Mykola Antonov — took part in the round table «Development of the Network of Energy Innovation Hubs for the Restoration of Ukraine: Results of Activities and Planning for Further Work», which was held in an online format.

The event was organized within the framework of the international technical assistance project «Energy Sustainability for Ukraine: Municipal, renewable, efficient” (ESU), implemented by GIZ.

During the round table, the participants summed up the activities of the Energy Innovation Hubs network, discussed the results of a survey on the current needs of the hubs, identified priority areas for further cooperation and outlined the prospects for the development of the network for the next year.

Participation in such events is an important component of the activities of the Energy Innovation Hub of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, as it contributes to the exchange of experience, the establishment of partnerships and the formation of common approaches to the implementation of modern energy-efficient and renewable solutions. The acquired knowledge will become the basis for the further development of the hub, the implementation of new initiatives and the strengthening of its contribution to the processes of energy sustainability and restoration of Ukraine.

During the spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year, students of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Dmytro Chernenko (group M-614) and Kyrylo Filipenkov (group KST-615m) participated in the international semester academic mobility program at the De Nayer campus of the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium. During the study, which was preceded by a successful selection, students under the guidance of experienced foreign teachers mastered a number of academic disciplines, the content of which was relevant to the content of the educational programs in which Dmytro and Kyrylo are studying at our university. All learning outcomes obtained during academic mobility were recognized at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University within the framework of the mobility agreement and partnership agreement between our university and the Catholic University of Leuven.

Hello! My name is Dmytro, and I am a second-year undergraduate student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. I became interested in academic mobility in my first year, but unfortunately, I was unable to participate in the long-term program then. But as soon as the opportunity arose, I agreed to a semester of mobility at the Catholic University of Leuven.

Study under academic mobility programs, in particular, is distinguished by a high degree of individual approach to the educational process – even if your specialty is not directly available at the host institution (as, for example, was the case with me), you will definitely be helped to choose an individual study plan that will best meet your desires and competencies.

Such a program can also become an excellent «school of life» – managing finances (which, by the way, is more than covered by the host party), planning routes and trips, communication and foreign language skills – and all this within a relatively soft framework that will allow you to develop your abilities perfectly.

In addition to training, there is, of course, a cultural component – in the subjects, in addition to lectures and laboratory work, we visited local production facilities as part of excursions, and what a The expanse opens up for independent tourism… Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Dinant and Oostende are just some of the cities and towns that Kyrylo and I managed to visit during this time.

Of course, nothing is without challenges and difficulties, but those who fight will always overcome. For example, unfortunately, I was unable to successfully pass one of the subjects, but this did not prevent me from completing my studies in general and completing a similar discipline at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University. The main thing is to make an effort to solve the problem, and they will be happy to help you!

Finally, I would like to thank everyone involved, namely: Professor Petro Arras of KU Leuven, the staff of the International Department of our university, Larisa Duyko, Professor Halyna Tabunshchyk, the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, as well as the Deans of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Transport, Vasyl Glushko and Oleksiy Kuzkin. On July 9, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Activities of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, member of the Technical Regulation Committee of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine Valerii Naumyk joined the work of the Second International Trade Forum in Kyiv.

Welcoming remarks at the opening of the conference were made by Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, Stefan Schleining, Head of the Cooperation Program, EU Delegation to Ukraine, Katrin Buchholz, Chargé d’Affaires ai Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine.

On July 2, the rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Viktor Greshta, and the director of the Zaporizhzhia City Council’s Extracurricular Education Center «Zaporizhzhia Cossack Military-Patriotic Education School» Serhiy Ignatchenko signed a memorandum of cooperation, initiating a new stage of partnership between the university and the extracurricular education institution.

The goal of cooperation is to develop educational, scientific and educational activities, improve the quality of professional training of students, support the national-patriotic education of youth, implement joint scientific and educational projects, and create conditions for the professional development of teachers.

Inter-project collaboration within the DAAD’s German-Ukrainian University Network program: a new phase in the development of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University’s partnership with German universities

One of the key outcomes of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University’s participation in the German-Ukrainian University Network (DUHN) program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the development of cooperation between project teams, which opens up new opportunities for partner universities. The DUHN program is being implemented with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) from 2025 to 2029. Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University is one of the most active Ukrainian participants in the program, taking part in four DUHN projects at once: https://www.daad-ukraine.org/uk/pro-nas/duhn/

On June 24–25, a working meeting was held at the East Bavarian University of Applied Sciences Amberg-Weiden (OTH Amberg-Weiden) between representatives of two projects under the DUHN program—UA4PIM (Project Management and Innovation for Ukraine, https://projects4ukraine.info/) and TANDEM-UA-DE (Teaching and Administration Network for Double Degree Education and Mobility — Ukraine and Germany).

The UA4PIM project is being implemented by Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University in collaboration with Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (FH Dortmund), Western Ukrainian National University, and Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. OTH Amberg-Weiden is a partner of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University in another DUHN program project—TANDEM-UA-DE. The key objectives of both projects are to develop dual-degree programs and to establish sustainable partnerships between German and Ukrainian universities.

Carsten Wolff, Ph.D., UA4PIM Project Manager, Director of IDiAL FH Dortmund, and Professor; Julia Heigl, Ph.D., TANDEM-UA-DE Project Manager and Vice President for Academic and International Affairs at OTH Amberg-Weiden; as well as representatives from Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University — Rector Viktor Hreshta; Kateryna Antoniuk, Professor in the Department of Economics and Customs; Dmytro Antoniuk, Professor in the Department of Management; Anzhelika Parkhomenko, Associate Professor in the Department of Software Engineering; and Andriy Kuts, Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Administration—discussed the results of both projects and the prospects for further cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the development of dual-degree programs, international academic mobility, modern approaches to managing educational projects, and the development of long-term partnerships between universities in Germany and Ukraine.

The delegation from FH Dortmund also took part in a meeting dedicated to reviewing the first year of the TANDEM-UA-DE project, where they had the opportunity to learn about the results of the collaboration between OTH Amberg-Weiden, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and Lutsk National Technical University. Professor Carsten Wolff presented the experience of implementing joint Ukrainian-German educational projects, as well as FH Dortmund’s approaches to developing international cooperation. Representatives from FH Dortmund participated in the visit’s program: Ekaterina Hermann, UA4PIM project coordinator, and Catrin Randersen, UA4PIM trainer training program coordinator.

Collaboration among DUHN projects significantly enhances their impact by combining the expertise of different universities, expanding professional networks, and creating new opportunities for developing joint educational and research initiatives!

The cooperation of the Department of Psychology with the charitable non-governmental organization UK-Med continues! On May 22 and June 2, students of the specialty «Psychology» took part in trainings on providing psychological first aid, which were conducted by UK-Med specialist Daryna Plastun.

The training was developed by UK-Med specialists to spread the skills of providing psychological first aid in crisis situations. The main components of the training:
– interactive theoretical part: identifying those who need first aid first; stabilization and assistance to a person depending on the reaction to stress and specific mental states
– practical exercises that were conducted in the form of discussions of emergency situations, role-playing games on providing psychological first aid, self-help

The participants of the training received useful and relevant professional knowledge and skills, as well as electronic certificates.

We thank the managers, coordinators and coaching staff of UK-Med Ukraine for the effective implementation of the provisions of the memorandum of cooperation!

The 1st regional stage of the All-Ukrainian competition of professional skills «WorldSkills Ukraine» in the «Mobile Robotics» category among participants aged 12–14 was held at the Small Academy of Sciences of Student Youth «Science-Hub» of the Regional Educational Service.

Representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University were invited to the competent jury of the competition: associate professors of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations Olena Nazarova and Volodymyr Osadchy, as well as senior lecturer of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications Harry Moroz.

At the beginning of the event, the founder and director of the STEM center «Socrates» Serhiy Dzyuba held a master class on educational robotics based on the XRP platform. This educational robot helps teenagers master programming, engineering, and robotics through practical activities, combining learning with solving real engineering challenges.

During the competition, young roboticists had to independently assemble a mobile robot, develop a program for its movement along a route with turns of varying complexity, ensure accurate route tracking, and then implement an algorithm for automatically finding a free space in a parking lot and parking the robot correctly. This task is as close as possible to real engineering challenges in the field of autonomous transport systems, as it combines mechanical design, programming, working with sensors, and decision-making algorithms.

We sincerely thank the acting directors of Science Hub, Pavlo Dolgoruky and Anna Smirnova, for creating conditions for the development of young engineers, and Serhii Dzyuba for new knowledge, inspiration, and popularization of modern robotics among young people. We congratulate all participants on their new achievements and wish them further success on their path to conquering new engineering peaks!

Zaporizhzhia continues to develop a vision of the future within the framework of the «Senses of Cities» initiative. During a series of meetings with the participation of philosophers Oleksandr Filonenko and Andriy Melnyk, participants discussed the values, features, and unique features of Zaporizhzhia, the role of communities in maintaining Ukraine’s resilience during a full-scale war, as well as the challenges associated with temporarily occupied territories and future reintegration.

Director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University, Associate Professor of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations Olena Nazarova also took part in the formation of the urban identity of Zaporizhzhia – an important process that unites representatives of education, science, the public sector, media, and local government around a common vision of the city’s future.

Special attention was paid to the development of engineering education as one of the key components of Zaporizhzhia’s identity. The participants emphasized the importance of forming a modern and attractive image of an engineer for young people, popularizing technical specialties, and preserving the memory of outstanding engineering schools of the past and present, which made Zaporizhzhia one of the leading industrial and scientific and technical centers of Ukraine.

The results should help form a common vision of what makes Zaporizhzhia special, what values ​​unite its community, and what contribution our city can make to Ukraine and the world.

Even in the conditions of a front-line city, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University remains a center of interest for schoolchildren and young people in engineering, robotics, and modern technologies. It is this knowledge, competence, and engineering thinking that will become one of the key foundations of Ukraine’s reconstruction and the development of its industrial potential in the post-war period!

On June 19, practical psychologists of the Psychological Service of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Anna Shubert and Alena Sadykina conducted an important training for specialists of the Zaporizhzhia Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCK and SP).

The topic of the meeting: «Forming resilience in extreme situations.» The event took place within the framework of the implementation of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Program on psychosocial support and mental health development, which is aimed at helping the city community and strengthening psychological resilience in wartime.

During active work and practical classes, participants:
– discovered the concept of resilience — learned how to develop internal resilience, adapt to difficult conditions, and recover from stressful events
– deeply studied the nature of stress — analyzed the mechanisms of its impact on the human body and psyche
– mastered the protocols of crisis psychological assistance — received clear and effective algorithms for supporting themselves and those around them in critical situations

On June 4, a thematic online meeting was held to share career guidance work experience on the topic: «Children’s and youth scientific university in the system of career guidance work of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and Kharkiv National University of Economics named after S. Kuznetsa»

The event brought together representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University and Semyon Kuznets National University of Science and Technology to discuss effective approaches to the professional self-determination of young people and the involvement of schoolchildren in scientific and educational activities.

The vice-rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Andriy Ivanchenko addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, who emphasized the importance of systematic career guidance activities, the development of partnerships between higher education institutions, and the creation of conditions for informed professional choices of young people.

Director of Children’s and Youth Scientific University «Zaporizka Polytechnic» Olena Nazarova presented the history of creation and the main areas of activity of DYUNU. The participants got acquainted with the work of legal, financial, IT and STEM circles, the activities of the Center for Gifted Youth, the START-UP School, as well as educational and scientific activities that contribute to the formation of professional interests of schoolchildren.

Representatives of NU «Zaporizh Polytechnic» joined the discussion: director of the Educational and Scientific Center «Zaporizhzhia Regional Center of Polytechnic Education» Tetyana Solovyova, director of the Zaporizhzhia cluster «Engineering – Automation – Mechanical Engineering» Andriy Karpenko, dean of the Faculty of Law Yurii Filey, group leaders Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal, Civil and International Law Olha Shiyan and associate professors of the Department of Accounting and Finance Iryna Maksimenko and Viktoriia Babenko-Levada.

Representatives of the Semen Kuznets National University of Technology presented their own experience of career guidance work and the project «Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Semen Kuznets National University of the People’s Republic of China», which became the basis for a professional dialogue and exchange of successful practices.

Conference participants noted the importance of inter-university cooperation in the development of a modern career guidance ecosystem, which helps young people consciously choose their future profession, reveal their own potential and build a professional growth trajectory. In April-June, the Kerbot Drone startup, which this year won the «STARTUP with Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» Business Ideas Competition, joined the Student Startup Fund Spring ’26 acceleration program, aimed at supporting innovative ideas of Ukrainian students and graduate students for the development of new startups. The program was initiated by the UNIT.City innovation park with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Startup Fund, as well as with the support of Win-Win EDIH Ukraine, EUNITED Digital Hub, Universe Group and SET University.

Kerbot Drone is software for training, designing and analyzing UAVs. The author of the idea and the main developer is Oleh Savchenko (BK-615m), a student of the Faculty of Information Security and Electronic Communications. The team also included Ivan Bushman (BK-612), Pavlo Reznychenko (BK-615m) and Snizhana Vychuzhanina, a post-graduate student and head of the student research department. Nataliia Myronova, associate professor of the department of information technologies of electronic means, acted as the team’s scientific consultant.

For three months, the participants went through training modules, talked with experts, and performed practical work on the product with the support of the team’s mentor, Olha Petrunina, a consultant on the formation of state orders for the most important scientific and technical (experimental) developments and scientific and technical products. The team was also given the opportunity to receive interim financing for the implementation of the MVP.

The final event of the program was the Demo Day, which took place offline in Kyiv at the UNIT.City base. Oksana Berezhna, Director General of the Department of Innovations and Connections of Science with the Real Sector of the Economy of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Anna Motrych, Project Manager of the Ukrainian Startup Fund, Pavlo Mykhailiuk, UNIT.City Ecosystem Development Director, and Student Startup Fund Program Coordinator, UNIT.City Project Leader Tymofiy Bazhan gave a welcoming speech. During the event, teams presented their startups to the jury, received feedback from representatives of the innovation ecosystem, and competed for support for the further development of their projects.

Snizhana Vychuzhanina presented Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, in particular, the youth startup movement and the Kerbot Drone team at the Demo Day. 

After the final, the work with the teams will continue. Program participants will be able to continue the development of their projects, maintain contact with mentors and partners, and work on the next steps to launch or scale their solutions.

On June 15-17, 2026, representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University took part in the working meeting of the consortium of the international project «Electronic Document Workflow for Universities: Enhancing Efficiency, Autonomy and European Integration» (SEDWU), which was held at the Vytautas the Great University in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Our university was represented by the vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and issues of university development prospects, Ruslan Kulikovsky, and the head of the educational department, Vitalii Shirokobokov.

A meeting was held with the leadership of the Vytautas the Great University, separately with the rector, Professor Ineta Dabashinskene and the vice-rector, Professor Astrida Miceikene. The role of international university cooperation in supporting Ukrainian institutions of higher education, prospects for the development of partnership relations and the possibility of further cooperation in educational, scientific and project activities were discussed. Special attention was paid to the issues of European integration of Ukrainian universities, digital transformation of management processes and exchange of practical experience between project partners.

The SEDWU project is aimed at developing modern approaches to electronic document management in universities, improving the efficiency of management processes, strengthening institutional autonomy, and bringing Ukrainian higher education institutions closer to European digital governance practices.

Participants discussed issues of international cooperation, European integration of Ukrainian universities, partnership opportunities with Vytautas the Great University, as well as challenges and prospects of digital transformation of higher education institutions.

Particular attention was paid to the practical experience of the Vytautas the Great University in the field of digitization, functioning of information systems, organization of electronic management processes and development of the digital infrastructure of the university. For Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, these issues are particularly relevant in view of the systematic work on the introduction of an automated educational process management system, digitization of internal procedures, development of electronic document management and integration of best European practices in the management of educational activities.

Project partners presented their achievements, discussed the implementation of work packages, issues of planning, budgeting, reporting and further coordination of joint activities.

Visits to university laboratories and familiarization with examples of the use of modern digital technologies, in particular the integration of artificial intelligence, became a separate part of the program. Such experience is important for understanding the practical possibilities of digital transformation not only in university management, but also in scientific, educational and innovative activities.

Participation in the meeting of the SEDWU consortium became an important stage for the strengthening of international cooperation of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, the exchange of experience with European partners and the further development of digital management solutions at the university.
