Results of the BIOART international educational project
On October 4-5, 2021, at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain), as part of the implementation of the international educational project“Innovative Multidisciplinary Curriculum in Artificial Implants for Bio-Engineering BSc/MSc Degrees” (BIOART, reg. number 586114-EPP-1-2017-1-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, a final meeting of the consortium representatives was held to summarize the project implementation and prepare the final report for the European Commission.
Representatives of the National University “Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic” project coordinator, Prof. Halyna Tabunshchyk, Prof. Vadym Shalomeyev and Associate Professor Anzhelika Parkhomenko took part in discussing the project results in the relevant areas: development of a new curriculum and new academic disciplines; assessment of the quality of project implementation; dissemination of project results and their sustainability; project management, financial management.
The main results obtained by the NUZP team during the implementation of the BIOART project are the following:
– Successful accreditation of the new multidisciplinary educational program “Telemedical and Biomedical Systems” by the joint efforts of several departments: radio engineering and telecommunications, software and physical materials science (fall 2020).
– Pilot training of students in the new educational program in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 n.r.
– Purchase of modern equipment for student education worth more than 2 500 000 hryvnias through an EU grant.
– Publication of a textbook in English “Teaching and subjects on bio-medical engineering” together with colleagues from 12 educational and scientific institutions in Belgium, Austria, Spain, Poland, Israel, Ukraine.
– Publication and reprinting of 9 editions of textbooks in Ukrainian language at the expense of a grant from the EU: “Prototyping of biomedical devices and structures”; “Automated design of electronic devices in Creo and ALTIUM DESIGNER environments”; “Embedded biomedical systems and wireless sensor networks”; “Materials science of medical products”; “Neural networks: theory and practice”; “Design of information infrastructure of medical and telemedical systems”; “Millimeter waves and their application in medicine”; “Design of Surface Elements in Mechanical Engineering”, “Software Quality Engineering”.
– Internship funded by the EU grant for university teachers in Israel, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Poland.
– Organization of a special section on the topic of the BIOART project within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Problems and Achievements in the Field of Radio Engineering, Telecommunications and Information Technologies” (October 2018, October 2020).
– Organization of the International Week for the 120th Anniversary of the University (November, 2020).
– Holding an international student Hackathon and organizing a study visit of NUZP students to the Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology named after M.I. Sytenko of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (Kharkiv, September 2021).
Unfortunately, due to bureaucratic obstacles, our university was unable to purchase a robot Timu for the educational process manufactured by Infocom, Zaporizhia. Ahead is the final report and audit of the project results by external European experts.
The implementation of the BIOART project at the National University of Life Sciences has opened up new opportunities for students and teachers of the university, allowing them to implement modern directions in educational and scientific activities in accordance with the tasks of improving the quality of education and integrating Ukraine into the European educational space.
