On March 24-25, the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University held a training for teachers «STEM leadership: innovative lessons with Micro:bit», which brought together motivated educators ready to introduce modern technologies into the educational process.

The Rector of the University Viktor Greshta addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of supporting pedagogical initiatives in the development of engineering thinking and STEM education.

The training was attended by teachers of educational institutions of Zaporizhzhia and the region, in particular Zaporizhzhia gymnasiums #84, #89, #100, #106, #59, lyceums #23, #31, #15, #107, as well as the Technical Lyceum and Petropolis Lyceum. Such a wide geography of participants once again confirms the high interest of educators in the development of the STEM field and the introduction of innovations in education.

The training program was developed and conducted by assistant professors of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations — Olena Nazarova, Alina Kazurova, and Volodymyr Osadchiy, providing a combination of theoretical approaches with practical cases.

For two days, the participants learned practical programming using the BBC Micro:bit; created their own STEM cases for lessons; developed mini-projects for students of grades 5-11; explored the possibilities of Micro:bit integration into interdisciplinary projects; discussed effective methodical approaches to STEM education.

The training ended with interactive sessions on automation and mechatronics, the participants gained initial skills in controlling quadcopters, discussed the prospects of creating joint STEM activities in the field of green energy, and visited the educational and scientific experiment center Quantum.

The solemn part of the training was attended by Holly Tann and Adam McQuire – volunteers, founders of the British non-profit organization «Casus Pax», thanks to whose support it became possible to distribute BBC Micro:bit basic sets among general secondary education institutions of the Zaporizhzhia region.

According to the results of the training, Rector Viktor Hreshta presented training participants with certificates of advanced training, BBC Micro:bit equipment sets for the implementation of STEM solutions in their educational institutions.

On March 24, the All-Ukrainian webinar «Academic Integrity: Challenges, Problems and Prospects» was held, which brought together representatives of higher education institutions, state authorities and the expert community. The event was held with the support of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service Issues and the National Agency for Corruption Prevention.

The event was solemnly opened by the rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Greshta. Yuliia Hryshyna, head of the subcommittee on higher education; Nataliia Alyushyna, head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service; Andriy Butenko, head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, addressed the participants with welcoming words.

Contentious reports were presented by: Nataliya Alyushyna, Head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service Issues; Volodymyr Bakhrushyn, Head of the Academic Council of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Coordinator of the Higher Education Sector of the National Agency for the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Member of the National Team of Experts on Higher Education Reform; Yevhen Nikolayev, Deputy Director of the Academic Institution «Teaching Academy» of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University; Hanna Ostapenko, Co-Founder of the NGO «Progressives»; Inna Savytska, Expert of the Integrity Office of the National Agency for Corruption Prevention; Artem Artyukhov, Member of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Head of the Ethics Committee of the National Agency; Ivan Nazarov, Deputy Head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. In their speeches, they emphasized the current issues of developing academic integrity, the introduction of new regulatory approaches, practical aspects of their implementation in the educational process, as well as the challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence.

20 березня в місті Києві відбувся масштабний захід «Дизайн-лаб: Молодіжна гарантія — з молоддю для молоді», присвячений напрацюванню практичних рішень для впровадження в Україні ініціативи «Молодіжна гарантія». Він об’єднав понад 200 учасників із різних регіонів України, ставши живою платформою для обміну досвідом, ідеями та спільного пошуку ефективних рішень для підтримки молоді.

На заході НУ «Запорізька політехніка» представила Анастасія Стешенко, голова студентського самоврядування, яка долучилася до обговорень і роботи над майбутніми змінами для молоді.

У межах програми відбулася панельна дискусія за участі представників Міністерства молоді та спорту України, Міністерства економіки України, Міністерства освіти і науки України та ЮНІСЕФ. Учасники обговорили ключові виклики та можливості для молодих людей на початку професійного шляху — від першої роботи до доступу до якісної освіти й підтримки у побудові кар’єри.

Практична частина заходу була присвячена роботі в групах, де учасники спільно шукали рішення для працевлаштування, освіти та професійного розвитку NEET-молоді – молодих людей, які не навчаються, не працюють і не проходять професійного навчання.

Ключова ідея ініціативи — зробити так, щоб кожна молода людина в Україні мала реальну можливість отримати роботу, освіту, стажування або професійне навчання. Під час роботи учасники моделювали її шлях в системі «Молодіжної гарантії», прагнучи зробити його доступним, зрозумілим і дієвим.

Цей захід став не просто майданчиком для обговорень, а простором, де народжуються рішення й формується спільне бачення майбутнього. Адже лише разом — через діалог, партнерство і взаємну підтримку — можна створити середовище, у якому кожен молодий українець матиме шанс реалізувати свій потенціал.

On March 20, an important working visit of representatives of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University to the Zaporizhzhia Technological Vocational College «Motor Builder» took place.

The meeting was attended by Viktor Hreshta, rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University; Serhiy Shylo, first vice-rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University; Mykhailo Frolov, head of the Metal Cutting Machines and Tools Department. Together with Oleksandr Baz, director of the college, and the institution’s administration, they held a frank and meaningful dialogue about the future of technical education and youth.

This was not just an official meeting, but a sincere conversation between like-minded people who strive to change education for the better. The participants not only discussed, but also identified specific steps for cooperation: from career guidance and organization of internships for students to the development of qualification centers, joint scientific initiatives and involvement of young people in research activities.

The main thing is a common understanding: the future is being created today. And it is through such partnerships that real opportunities open up for young people – to learn, develop, and find their way in the profession.

On March 19, a delegation of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University visited the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic Center for Vocational Education.

The delegation included: Rector Viktor Greshta, First Vice-Rector Serhiy Shylo, Director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova, Head of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations Andriy Pyrozhok, and Associate Professor of the same department Volodymyr Osadchy.

The guests were hospitably welcomed by the center’s director, Volodymyr Polukhin, and deputy director for educational and production work, Andriy Liush. During the meeting, they conducted a meaningful sightseeing tour, presented modern specialized laboratories, and demonstrated opportunities for developing practical skills in students.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation, in particular:
– development of joint project activities
– holding training sessions, professional skills competitions and Olympiads
– involving schoolchildren, students of the center and university students in active engineering creativity

Special attention was paid to the importance of developing engineering thinking, increasing the prestige of engineering specialties, and introducing modern technologies and equipment into the educational process.

The participants of the meeting emphasized that close cooperation between educational institutions of different levels is the key to the development of the scientific and technical potential of the Zaporizhzhia region. An important direction was identified as the integration of education, science and production, which will contribute to the training of competitive specialists, as well as the expansion of international partnerships and participation in joint innovation projects.

Such meetings are an important step towards creating a single educational space that combines science, practice, and innovation.

On March 17, the third open webinar was held as part of the Business Ideas Competition «STARTUP with Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic», where Investhub Club President Oles Varenyk and Justo Co-Founder and CEO Oleksandr Rzhavsky shared their experience on important aspects of managing finances in startups.

The participants learned:
– what is important in communicating with investors
– how to structure a business model, plan and obtain net profit using unit economics tools
– what are the key roles in a startup team and is it possible to launch a startup without a team

The webinar was accompanied by lively interest and active discussion. Mr. Oleksandr Rzhavsky, as an entrepreneur with over 16 years of experience in the field of digital products, operational management and business development, discussed business ideas with the participants, answered all questions and shared his experiences for effective financial management.

In March, representatives of the National Contact Point «Research Infrastructures» – Head Dmytro Pavlenko and Leading Specialist Myroslava Shchetinina held an information event «Grant Opportunities and Support Tools within the Horizon Europe Program» for participants of the Network of Business Information Support Centers.

The main goal of the event was to familiarize representatives of the business community with the opportunities for participation in the EC Horizon Europe program, a key instrument for funding research and innovation for 2021–2027. The event helped raise awareness among enterprises, business support organizations, and other stakeholders about the program’s mechanisms and practical steps for successful participation in competitions.

The participants learned about the wide opportunities of the program for different types of organizations – higher education institutions, scientific institutions, small and medium-sized businesses, startups and public organizations. The benefits of participation for business were separately considered: diversification of financial risks, technology transfer, access to international markets and building strategic partnerships.
Particular attention was paid to the status of Ukraine as an associated country of the program, which gives Ukrainian organizations equal rights with participants from EU member states. The participants also learned about special initiatives to support Ukrainian organizations within the framework of Horizon Europe, which open up additional opportunities for domestic businesses and scientific institutions.

A significant part of the event was devoted to practical issues of participation in the program:
– formation of international consortia and requirements for the composition of partners
– tools and platforms for searching for partners
– registration of the organization on the Funding&Tenders portal and obtaining an identification code
– structure and requirements for preparing competitive applications
– distribution of roles between the coordinator and consortium partners

To motivate participants, real Ukrainian success stories in the program were presented, confirming the practical feasibility of domestic organizations participating in international Horizon Europe competitions.

The National Competitiveness Center «Research Infrastructures» continues its active work to inform and support Ukrainian organizations and invites enterprises, scientific institutions and business support organizations to apply for free consultations on participation in Horizon Europe competitions.

On March 17, during the roundtable «Communication Synergy: Joining Efforts to Train Masters of Digital Networks,» the issue of restoring the digital infrastructure of the city of Zaporizhzhia was discussed. Representatives of the government, business, and education sectors joined the event.

Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was presented by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Technologies Mariia Tyagunova and Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks Svitlana Hrushko.

The participants emphasized the region’s urgent need for specialists: hundreds of network installers and digital infrastructure support specialists are needed. Therefore, the priority area was the creation of systematic training with an emphasis on the practical component, dual education, and close cooperation with employers. This approach will allow students to work on modern equipment and gain experience that is as close as possible to real professional conditions.

During the meeting, the capabilities of each party were outlined and the main steps for further interaction were determined. University representatives expressed their readiness to professionally support the proposed initiative, share educational experience, and participate in the development of an educational and methodological base.

This meeting was the first step towards forming a modern system of training specialists capable of working with digital networks, restoring infrastructure and ensuring stable communication in the region. Ahead is the active implementation of new educational courses, the development of laboratory facilities and further effective cooperation of all participants of the round table «Communication Synergy: Joining Forces to Train Digital Network Masters» to train specialists ready for the real challenges of the industry.

On March 18, the rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Hreshta and the director of the Extracurricular Education Institution «Young Technicians Station» of the Zaporizhzhia City Council Svitlana Mostova signed a cooperation agreement.

The goal of cooperation is to develop educational, scientific and innovative activities, improve the quality of training for students, and support technical creativity and STEM education for young students.

Main areas of cooperation:
– implementation of joint scientific, educational and STEM projects
– organization of contests, competitions and technical events
– conducting master classes, trainings and interactive classes

Cooperation between Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and the Institution of Extracurricular Education «Station of Young Technicians» will contribute to the development of engineering thinking, the creative potential of youth, and the formation of a modern educational environment.

On March 13, the rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, Viktor Greshta, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the National Bar Association of Ukraine and the Bar Council of the Zaporizhzhia Region.

During the meeting, the rector of the university Viktor Hreshta, acting Maksym Semenov, Chairman of the Bar Council of the Zaporizhzhia Region, and Dmytro Maistro, a member of the Bar Council of the Zaporizhzhia Region, discussed the preparation and implementation of joint events, projects and programs.

Our cooperation will include:
– the development of initiatives in the field of research on the history of Ukrainian advocacy
– the organization of practical training for those seeking education: internships by university students in law firms
– promotion of graduate employment.

An important area of interaction will also be the support and development of the scientific and practical laboratory «Advocate Activity», the functioning of the University Legal Clinic, as well as educational initiatives for young people, in particular the «Young Legalist» group for schoolchildren, which will contribute to the formation of legal culture and the popularization of the legal profession among the city’s schoolchildren.

Maksym Semenov presented Rector Viktor Hreshta with a thank you from the head of the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine for supporting the development of the legal profession.

The signing of the memorandum opens up new opportunities for cooperation between the university and the professional legal community and will contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of law.

The cooperation between Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University and the Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany) began with the joint international educational project ICo-op: Industrial Cooperation and Creative Engineering Education Based on Distance Engineering and Virtual Tools (2012–2015): https://zp.edu.ua/archive/ico-op/

Furthermore, our universities were partners within the DESIRE project: Development of courses in embedded systems using innovative virtual approaches for the integration of science, education and industry in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia (2013–2016): https://zp.edu.ua/archive/tempus-desire/, as well as within the ERASMUS+ KA107 academic mobility program.

Today, the cooperation of our universities continues within the framework of the ERASMUS+ SUNRISE project «Network of Strategic Universities for Regional Innovative and Sustainable Evolution» (2025–2028): https://www.tu-ilmenau.de/forschung/forschungsaktivitaeten/forschung-international/sunrise. Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University is a partner in the alliance, which includes 9 universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Sweden, as well as associated partners from business and industry, government institutions, education, science and technology. The project is coordinated by TU Ilmenau, and its goal is to create innovative, internationally oriented educational programs.

One of the areas of joint research and scientific publications of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic and TU Ilmenau is technologies and systems of virtual and remote engineering based on the use of the GOLDi hybrid laboratory (Grid of Online Lab Devices Ilmenau). The experimental installations of this laboratory were installed at the Department of Software within the framework of the ICo-op project, and were also included in the international network of online laboratories, which allowed students to remotely control real physical experiments and their virtual models (elevators, production lines, warehouses, gantry robots) via the Internet.

The GOLDi development team, led by Professor Emeritus of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University Carsten Henke, is constantly improving didactic, technical and organizational solutions to create an open digital interuniversity learning environment that can be adapted to the learning requirements and needs of students, providing them with the skills necessary for their future professional activities.

That is why, at the end of February, representatives of the Department of Software of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, at the invitation of Professor Carsten Henke, visited TU Ilmenau, where they explored the new CrossLab architecture of the GOLDi 2.0 laboratory and the features of its use to support competency-based teaching and learning of students of computer specialties. During the visit, a student of the KST-212 group, Illia Parkhomenko, implemented a project for remote control of GOLDi 2.0 experiments using the software and hardware of the Hybrid Take-Home-Lab case. This case provides students with an interface block that they can use to conveniently connect modules (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, FPGA or digital logic experiment kits) for remote control of the GOLDi physical equipment, creating a hybrid home laboratory.

Currently, work is underway on LTI-integration of the GOLDi 2.0 laboratory into the Moodle distance learning system of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University. This will allow master’s students of the Department of Software Tools within the discipline «Technologies and Systems of Virtual and Remote Engineering» (Associate Professor Anzhelika Parkhomenko) to work directly with online experiments without the need to go to the GOLDi 2.0 laboratory website.

The experience gained will contribute to the further implementation of online experiments to strengthen practical components and improve the quality of distance learning for students of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University.

On March 11, an important online meeting was held dedicated to organizing partnership cooperation with the Zaporizhzhia Regional Branch of the All-Ukrainian Association of United Territorial Communities and presenting the opportunities of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.

With the joint efforts of educators and community representatives, we are working to preserve and grow the human and professional capital of the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as to ensure that school graduates in our region have a clear guide for a professional start and high-quality higher education.

The event began with welcoming remarks by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Development Committee of the Ukrainian State University of Technology Ihor Hnatush and the rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Greshta. The Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee, Volodymyr Vasylevsky, explained the admission rules in detail and drew attention to the specialties that have special state support.

Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Tetyana Khitrova spoke about the advantages of studying at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, focused on the needs of the regional communities, demonstrated the practical results of cooperation between higher education institutions, local governments and businesses, and shared her experience of international internships, dual education, participation in international projects, and employment prospects.

Special attention was paid to working with students in grades 9 and 11, in particular, participants discussed how to effectively inform young people about popular professions and study conditions.
