Assistant Professor of the Department of Foundry Machines and Technologies Olha Sergienko took part in a study visit to the University of Warwick (Coventry, United Kingdom) as part of the UK-UA STEM PRO program. This educational program was launched on the initiative of the Foundation of the President of Ukraine for the support of education, science and sports in partnership with the University of Warwick and with the support of the UK–Ukraine Academic Diaspora Network and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain.

After 10 weeks of online trainings led by British professors, the program ended with a visit of 15 Ukrainian scientists to the UK to share experience in organizing joint research projects and commercializing scientific achievements.

During the program, which lasted from March 25 to April 2, our associate professor, together with other Ukrainian scientists, visited the departments of chemistry, physics, biology and engineering of the University of Warwick, as well as the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG). The researchers took part in a conference organized by the Warwick Institute of Engagement, visited Warwick Innovation District and Warwick Business School. The program of the visit included getting to know the UK Battery Industrialization Center, Oxford Harwell Campus, School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies at University College London and the Natural History Museum in London. The participants also visited the Embassy of Ukraine in London and took part in activities within the framework of the Research Bridge initiative.

In addition to the assistant professor of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, the visit was also attended by researchers from the best research centers and higher education institutions of Ukraine: Kyiv Aviation Institute National University, Bukovyna State Medical University, Kyiv School of Economics, Sumy State University, Uzhhorod National University, Lviv Polytechnic, Institute of Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Vinnytsia National Technical University, State Institution «Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine», National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after H.S. Skovorody, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics.

The founding meeting of the newly established public association «Zaporizhzhia Cluster of Information Technologies and Innovations» (Public Association «Zaporizhzhia ITI Cluster», ZCITI) was held in Zaporizhzhia, which aims to unite the efforts of business, education, science and government to develop the region’s innovation ecosystem.

During the meeting, the mission of the union was defined – to promote the development of information technologies and innovations in the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukraine and the world by consolidating the resources of enterprises, organizations, educational and scientific institutions, public associations and the expert community. Special attention will be paid to supporting the professional development of specialists, digital transformation of the region and increasing its competitiveness.

The vision of the union involves creating conditions under which the Zaporizhzhia region will become a powerful center for the development of IT and innovation, capable of integrating into global technological processes and ensuring sustainable socio-economic development.

The participants of the meeting unanimously supported the initiative to create a union, which was presented by the President of the Scientific and Technical Park LLC of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and the Rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Viktor Hreshta.

During the meeting, the official name, purpose, and Charter of the union were approved as the main founding document that defines the principles of its activities and management.

Special attention was paid to the formation of governing bodies. Viktor Greshta was elected Chairman of the Board. The Board included Vice President of the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Associate Professor of the Department of Management and Administration Andriy Kuts, Director of the Zaporizhzhia Cluster «Engineering-Automation-Mechanical Engineering», Professor of the Department of Economics and Customs Andriy Karpenko, Representative of LLC «Gray Matter Software» Yevhen Kasyanenko, and Representative of the Scientific and Production Enterprise «Impulse» Ihor Otrokha.

The creation of the Public Association «Zaporizhzhia Cluster of Information Technologies and Innovations» opens up new opportunities for the development of the IT industry, support for startups, implementation of joint projects, formation of a modern innovation ecosystem in the region, and promotion of self-realization of youth in their native Zaporizhzhia region.

On March 26-27, the All-Ukrainian engineering competition in the field of automation and programming of production systems «Best of the Best 3.0» was held on the basis of the Polis National University (Zhytomyr) with the support of AMM Project LLC.

The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic was presented by a team of students of the electrical engineering faculty under the leadership of Yurii Krysan, associate professor of the department of electric drive and automation of industrial installations.

During the two days of the competition, students Oleksiy Tertyshny (E-315sp), Tymofiy Poleshko (E-313) and Danylo Ivlev (E-314) performed test and practical tasks in electrical engineering, theory of automatic control, digital electronics and programming in the direction of production automation. 

According to the results of the competition, our students took 2 out of 6 prize places:
– 2nd place — Tymofiy Poleshko
– 3rd place — Oleksiy Tertyshny

The winners were awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes from the competition partners, and they also got the opportunity to undergo a certified training «STEP7 Basic» in programming Siemens industrial controllers.

On March 26, Professor of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business Tetyana Shelemetyeva joined the meeting of the Scientific Council on Tourism at the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine with the participation of the First Deputy Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development Taras Lozynsky.

During the meeting, the work plan of the Scientific Council for 2026/2027 was approved, which provides for:
– development and implementation of tasks for strategic management and regulatory support for sustainable tourism development
– post-war recovery by region, transformation of education and science
– implementation of innovations in the context of digitalization and inclusion

Taras Lozynsky outlined the conceptual principles for developing the National Strategy for the Development and Restoration of Tourism in Ukraine and the role of scientific work in its formation.

The participants of the meeting discussed the possibilities of involving expert scientists from EU partner universities in reviewing sections of the National Strategy, and creating international research platforms to analyze the sustainability of the industry in the face of global challenges.

After the meeting, the members of the Scientific Council got acquainted with the material and technical base of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, and also met with the staff of the Department of Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Business.

On March 24, the fourth open webinar was held as part of the Business Ideas Competition «STARTUP with Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic», where the leading intellectual property professional of UKRNOIVI Yuliana Zukh-Kipriyanova shared important information about legal protection and protection of intellectual property rights in startup activities.

Participants analyzed the main concepts and, in particular, paid attention to the following issues:
– how to effectively commercialize intellectual property
– how a developed IP strategy affects the competitive advantage of startups
– when and where to start forming an intellectual property portfolio

The 17th international exhibition «Modern Educational Institutions» took place on March 25–27, uniting the educational community in an online format.

The participants, organizers, and guests were welcomed by the President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Vasyl Kremen, and the Director of the Institute for Modernization of Educational Content, Yevhen Bazhenkov.

The exhibition brought together 497 participants from all regions of Ukraine and European countries – Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Hungary, Estonia. Among them – educational institutions of all levels, scientific institutions, education management bodies and business representatives.

The event included competitions, in which 549 works were submitted. Expert evaluation was carried out by leading scientists and specialists.

NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» was awarded the Grand Prix «Higher Education of Ukraine» and two gold medals!
