On February 2, the Kick-off meeting of the international project «Creating Champions for Change (CC4C)», funded by the EU under the Erasmus+ program, took place in Yerevan. Representatives of partner organizations from Serbia, Greece, Armenia, and Ukraine, including a delegation from Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, participated in the event.

The Polytechnic was represented by Vasyl Mazin, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports Management, and Borys Kokarev, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Culture, Olympic and Non-Olympic Sports.

The CC4C project (#101244026) belongs to the «Capacity Building in Sport» direction and is aimed at combating gender-based violence in sports, primarily in football, both in the real environment and in the online space. Its key goal is to create a safe, inclusive and equal sports environment, to raise awareness among youth, coaches and sports organizations about the issue of violence and to create a culture of respect and equality.

During the kick-off meeting, the partners discussed the structure and content of future work, the distribution of responsibilities between organizations, project management issues, financial aspects, and the plan for the implementation of the main activities. Considerable attention was paid to the coordination of research activities, the development of educational materials, the organization of trainings for coaches and young athletes, as well as the implementation of information campaigns to combat gender-based violence in sports.

Participation of NU «Zaporizka Polytechnic» in the CC4C project involves:
– research of manifestations of gender violence in football
– development of educational programs and methodical materials
– conducting trainings for coaches and youth
– organization of informational and educational events
– local management of project activities

Activity within the scope of the project will contribute to the development of scientific research in the field of sports, the expansion of international cooperation, the introduction of modern approaches to ensuring a safe sports environment and the increase of social responsibility of the sports community.

The results of the SS4C project, which will be implemented during 2025-2027, are aimed at long-term positive changes in the sports environment and society in general.

Thanks to the support of the project coordinator for Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan, Honorary Professor of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, Director of IDiAL FH Dortmund, Carsten Wolf, students of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic had a great opportunity to join the project activities.

In the fall semester of 2024/2025, 9 students from different faculties (Computer Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Design, Information Security and Electronic Communications) participated online in the InduTwin English Language Team Task: «Smart Cities» course. 3 students received certificates of successful completion of the course.

In the fall semester 2025/2026 24 students from various faculties (mechanical engineering, law, business technology and economics, electrical engineering, construction, architecture and design, computer science and technology, humanities, engineering and physics, physical culture and sports management, transport) participated in the InduTwin English Language Team Task: «Circular Economy: Automotive Industry» course. 7 students received certificates of successful completion of the course.

In the spring semester 2024/2025, students Illia Parkhomenko (KNT–212), Alisa Khomenko (KNT–212) and Liliya Menkova (E–515m) chose courses in English and studied at FH Dortmund as part of the academic mobility program: https://go-study-europe.de/mobility-programm-supported-by-daad-indutwin/

In the fall semester 2025/2026, student Alisa Khomenko continued her studies within the framework of the academic mobility program.

Students Alisa Khomenko and Illia Parkhomenko became participants in TOGAF Block Week (March 2025) and visited the North Rhine-Westphalia State Parliament in Düsseldorf (May 2025) together with other international students.

Together with colleagues from Kazakhstan (Almaty International IT University and Astana IT University), our students completed and presented several projects, including within the courses «Mobile App Engineering» (Illia Parkhomenko, Alisa Khomenko) and «Trends in Software Engineering» (Alisa Khomenko).

Participation in international projects gives our students invaluable experience studying at foreign universities, developing professional and soft skills, and intercultural communication.

Within the framework of the signed memorandum of cooperation, the head of the Department of Machines and Foundry Technology Valerii Ivanov, associate professor of the Department of Machines and Foundry Technology Andriy Parkhomenko, and the head of the Department of Metal Pressure Processing Anton Matyukhin visited the Częstochowa Polytechnic (Poland) to conduct joint scientific research on the unique equipment of the Faculty of Production Technologies and Materials Science.

These studies were related to obtaining samples from mixtures of titanium and hydroxyapatite powders by plasma sintering using various technological modes.

Based on the results of the research and training, our colleagues received the appropriate internship certificates – familiarization with the possibilities of pressing and sintering powder materials using the spark-plasma sintering technique.

We would like to thank the staff of the Częstochowa University of Technology and personally the rector Marek Warzecha and the dean Sebastian Mroz for the opportunity to conduct scientific research using modern equipment.

English4Ukraine is a joint initiative of Mariupol State University and the British-Ukrainian project Twinning Ukraine, founded by Cormack Consultancy Group, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

On January 23, 2025 at 4 a.m., as a result of a strike by Iskander-type ballistic missiles on the territory of Zaporizhzhia, the blast wave caused significant damage to windows, doors, balcony blocks, and slopes in dormitory No. 5 (Zaporizhzhia, 60 Universytetska/Zhukovsky str.).

Thanks to close and consistent cooperation with our university partners, we were able to receive important support from the American organization Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation (HGBF).

As part of the window program created by GEM in partnership with HGBF, 84 window structures with a total area of ​​172.7662 m² were replaced, which significantly improved the living conditions of the dormitory residents and more guaranteed a sense of security and comfort.

Systematic work continues to improve living conditions in the dormitories of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic campus for both students and internally displaced persons. During the period of martial law in Ukraine, regular employees of the campus are working in an intensified mode and, together with charitable organizations and foundations, are helping the affected people: providing them with basic necessities, providing humanitarian aid, and helping with household arrangements.

In January, the Department of Psychology co-organized the psychological recovery workshops «A Journey That Changes and Heals…» from the Center for Assistance to the Rescued (CADA) of Zaporizhzhia.

A total of 4 workshops were held: 2 for all interested adults; 2 for high school students and youth. 2 workshops were held online, and 2 at the Center for Assistance to the Rescued in Zaporizhzhia, where everyone was welcomed by the Center’s team, and coordinator Kateryna Rakytyanska briefly spoke about the Center’s work.

The recovery classes were conducted by Tetiana Borodulkina, a psychologist at the Center for Assistance to the Rescued, an associate professor at the Department of Psychology at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, author of the MAK, author and psychologist of the project «Psychological Space »Entelechy of Meaning«».

36 participants took part in the classes. Participants from different parts of Ukraine (Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Uzhgorod, Samar, Marganets) and from abroad (Germany, England) joined the online formats.

Residents of our front-line city participated in the offline format. In particular, members of the «Baida» Youth Movement (Kosmichny District), whose students, together with their mentor, actively participated in the lesson planned for high school students.

During the workshops, participants explored themselves and the key meanings of their lives, tracked the dynamics of their psychological state, told others about themselves in various ways, sought their uniqueness, and supported each other in the group. Using metaphorical associative cards «Reflections on the Carpathian Trail» (author – Tetyana Borodulkina), they made two parallel «journeys»: one – to the winter Carpathian forest; and the second – took place in the landscape of the inner world.

A team game-quest «Treasure in the Cave» was held at a lesson with the pupils of the «Baida» Youth Movement. The participants were divided into teams, each of which had its own task: to decipher one of the fragments of a philosophical parable about life values. They also played the game «Who am I?» together to cheer each other up.

Thank you to the Center for Assistance to the Survivors of Zaporizhzhia for the opportunity to join the psycho-emotional support of adults and children during the war! Thank you to everyone for your active participation!

The Center for Assistance to Rescued Persons in Zaporizhzhia was created on the initiative of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, with the assistance of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, in partnership with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, thanks to the financial support of the governments of Austria, Belgium, Spain, and Sweden in cooperation with local authorities and the NGO «Association of Women Ambassadors of Ukraine».

On January 13, a monitoring group visited the temporary residence (TRP) of internally displaced persons located in the dormitory No. 4 of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, consisting of:
– Maryna Karamanova — a specialist in program activities, monitoring and evaluation of the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine
– Tetyana Shutova — regional coordinator of the child protection cluster (CP AoR) in the Eastern region
– Alina Pereverzeva — regional coordinator of the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) cluster in Zaporizhzhia region

The visit program included communication with forcibly displaced persons currently living in the dormitory, analysis of the work carried out to equip the IDP center with new furniture and equipment as a result of receiving charitable funds, assessment of the effectiveness of the assistance provided, as well as a meeting with representatives of the balance sheet holder of the IDP temporary residence. Special attention was paid to identifying problematic issues in the functioning of the IDP center and planning further ways to resolve them.

The reason for the monitoring visit was the implementation of the project «Life without Barriers: Assistance to Organizations, Communities, People with Disabilities and Children in the Affected Regions of Eastern and Northern Ukraine», which is implemented by the Charity Foundation «Smile of Ukraine» with financial support from the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (UHF). Within the framework of the project, 66 temporary accommodation places were arranged for evacuated residents of the village of Malokaterynivka, Kushugum territorial community.

The project purchased, delivered, and installed new wardrobes, beds, mattresses, chairs, bedside tables, writing and kitchen tables, sinks, and stainless steel worktops in living rooms and common areas. The residents of the MTP were also provided with bed linen, fire extinguishers, dishes, household appliances, roller blinds, mirrors, and other necessary equipment. The total amount of assistance provided exceeded 1.7 million hryvnias.

On January 14, the rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Viktor Hreshta, and the head of the Department of Mass Sports in the Zaporizhzhia region of the State Institution «All-Ukrainian Center for Physical Health of the Population »Agency for Pupil, Student and Mass Sports of Ukraine” Svitlana Zarudinska signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Main areas of cooperation:
– popularization of physical culture and sports, formation of motivation for an active lifestyle
– organization and holding of mass sports events, competitions, festivals, tournaments, seminars and conferences
– development of student and mass sports, in particular joint implementation of the project of the President of Ukraine «Side by Side: School and Student Leagues»
– support of athletically gifted youth and creation of conditions for the development of their abilities
– coordination of actions between educational institutions, sports institutions and local self-government bodies
– information and educational activities on preserving and strengthening health

The signing of the Memorandum was an important step in strengthening the partnership between educational and sports institutions, and also opens up new opportunities for the development of student and mass sports in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ KA107 program, as well as within the framework of the interinstitutional agreement concluded between the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium) and the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, there are opportunities for academic mobility of higher education students and teachers.

From October 15 to December 13, Nataliia Mironova, an associate professor at the Department of Information Technologies of Electronic Media, participated in the academic mobility program. The academic internship was conducted under the scientific supervision of Professor Petro Arras and Professor Wouter Sas (KU Leuven).

The goal of mobility was to work on the functionality and limitations of the Magician Go mobile platform. This educational robot is actively used in STEM projects, but its standard software has limited access to control settings. Therefore, it was necessary to develop a custom driver that provides direct control of the platform without using proprietary software. To do this, an analysis of available open materials was conducted and the data exchange protocol was reverse-engineered. The result was the Magician Go control software, which opens up new opportunities for educational and research projects.

The experience gained is already being integrated into the educational process during the teaching of the educational components «Robot Control Systems» and «Programming of Robotic Systems», as well as the coordination of areas of joint scientific work between representatives of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University and KU Leuven.

On January 8, the rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Viktor Greshta, and the facilitator for community work, Serhiy Makota, signed a memorandum of cooperation. The working meeting was also attended by the head of the public organization «Oberig Zhytty» Andriy Khyzhny.

The document lays the foundation for combining the efforts of the university and a charitable organization in the field of social protection of the population of the Zaporizhzhia region, in particular internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, low-income families and other categories of citizens in need of support.

Directions for further cooperation:
– implementation of joint social programs and projects for internally displaced persons and vulnerable categories of the population
– effective response to violations of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens in need of social assistance
– organization and conduct of educational, informational and educational events (conferences, seminars, trainings, round tables)
– increasing the professional competence of representatives of charitable organizations and partner structures
– prevention of socially negative phenomena and support for the psychological and social well-being of the population
– development of a partner network in the field of social protection and charity

The signing of the agreement is an important step in strengthening the university’s social responsibility and expanding its capabilities to support communities in today’s difficult conditions.

The long-standing cooperation of the Department of Journalism of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University with the Czech public organization «Association for International Affairs» (AMO) reached a new level in 2025.

The current international initiative aims to demonstrate effective interaction between journalism departments and stakeholders and strengthen the connection between academic education and professional media practice.

The involvement of practitioners in educational and international projects became one of the key principles of this cooperation, within the framework of which the Department of Journalism recommended Olha Vakalo, editor-in-chief of the vision radio «Na dotyk», to participate in the project «Innovative Approaches to Academic and Journalistic Practice» and in a study trip to the Czech Republic.

During their stay at the headquarters of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the participants learned about the principles of the international broadcaster’s work, and discussed European policy and the Eastern Partnership with David Stulik, the Plenipotentiary Representative for the Eastern Partnership. Meetings were also held at the European Commission Representation in the Czech Republic, the editorial office of EURACTIV.cz, and the STEM think tank, which provided a comprehensive view of how EU policies are formed, communicated, and analyzed.

Special attention was paid to the Czech media landscape: from the investigative journalism of the weekly Respekt and the public broadcaster Český rozhlas to the activities of the ProUkrain editorial office, which works with the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic. The final elements of the program were visits to Transparency International – Česká republika and the media platform Seznam Zprávy, which provided an insight into anti-corruption mechanisms and the impact of digital platforms on modern media.
