Cycle of events for the Day of Defenders of Ukraine

On October 1, students, teachers, and staff of Zaporizhia Polytechnic University took part in various events dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. We started this day with the daily All-Ukrainian minute of silence, with which we honor the honor of brave Ukrainians who laid down their lives to defend the Motherland.

The Museum of the History of Technical Progress of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University, together with the Zaporizhia Regional Art Museum, opened an exhibition of paintings by Volodymyr Hordiychenko — a university teacher, a participant in hostilities, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

A special event of this day was a meeting with Mykola Georgievich Bilenko — our defender, former director of regional television. The event, organized by the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training, grew into a sincere and frank dialogue about life, in which war and patriotism, dreams and trials, support and faith were intertwined. Students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Construction, Architecture and Design joined this meeting to emphasize once again: our duty is to always remember the courageous defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.

In the youth hub “FREETIME”, the student government and the student trade union organized a movie evening – they watched the Ukrainian film “Shchedryk” by Olesa Morhunets-Isayenko – a historical drama, the action of which takes place during the Second World War. The world-famous “Shchedryk” by Mykola Leontovych becomes a symbol of resilience and hope for the heroes – a melody that resonates through trials and reminds of unity, humanity and the strength of Ukrainian culture. This is a film about survival, faith and indomitability in times when life itself becomes a test.

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary, the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University announces a large charitable collection. All funds raised will be directed to help the defenders defending the Zaporizhia direction.
