From May 15 to 30, teachers of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering visited the Częstochowa Polytechnic (Poland) within the framework of the signed memorandum of cooperation. The delegation of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University consisted of: Head of the Department of Machines and Foundry Technology Valeriy Ivanov, Head of the Educational and Methodological Department Andriy Parkhomenko, and Head of the Department of Metal Pressure Processing Anton Matyukhin.

Once again, we emphasize our reliable relations: our team conveyed gratitude from the rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, Viktor Greshta, to the dean of the Faculty of Production Engineering and Materials Technology, Sebastian Mroz.

During the visit, joint research was conducted on spark plasma sintering of titanium powders and their mixtures.

The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was able to purchase a professional-grade RaptorX 3D scanner thanks to funding from Cardiff University.

At the Department of Metal Cutting Machine Tools and Tools, the scanner is used in research of scientific works in the field of mechanical engineering. Together with the available Carveco and Tebis software, working with a modern device provides students with the opportunity to gain laboratory and practical knowledge and skills in creating 3D models from prototypes.

The latest equipment will give a new impetus to the educational process, and will also allow us to expand the list of innovative services provided by our Technocenter on a commercial basis.

Our partner PrivatBank has launched a new educational project «Financial Security» for Ukrainians. The project talks about how to avoid fraudulent schemes and not get into trouble due to ignorance of financial rules.

The educational campaign will be in the format of series, each of which is dedicated to a separate topic. Here are some of them:
«Don’t become a drop» — about «money mules» and «drops» — those who, knowingly or unknowingly, give their bank details to fraudsters
«Playing with safety» — how «drop» schemes work and why it is better to stay as far away from them as possible
«Adult level» — why does the bank contact customers with the question of updating data, because it is not about formalities, but about protecting money and financial security

On May 20, a webinar on the use of artificial intelligence for robots playing soccer «Artificial Intelligence and Humanoid Robots: (When) will robots be soccer world champion?» was held. It was organized by the Department of Software Tools of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and Offenburg University of Applied Sciences.

The webinar was attended by about 100 people representing Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, educational institutions of Zaporizhzhia and Ukraine.

The speaker was Professor Klaus Dorer, who spoke about the problems and prospects of teaching robots to play football, and also highlighted the achievements of his research team. The event was moderated by Serhiy Subbotin, Head of the Department of Software. During the event, participants were interested in the details of the research and asked the speaker many questions.

The webinar was held within the framework of cooperation between Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University and Offenburg University, which was launched in the spring of 2025.

On May 21, a one-day conference «(De)occupied and near-front communities on the way to recovery: institutional solutions» was held in Kyiv, which is dedicated to discussing the institutional recovery of front-line and de-occupied territories of Ukraine from four directions: public administration, personnel support, administrative-territorial organization and public participation.

The event is organized as part of the Global Open Government Week in partnership with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine and the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning.

The conference was opened by Oleksandr Yarema, State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, who delivered a welcome speech. After that, the planned panel discussions on key solutions for the de-occupied and front-line territories began.

The topics of the discussions were:

• management of the restoration of de-occupied and front-line communities
• Positions of a comprehensive study of the institutional restoration of affected communities
• public administration: territorial basis and organization of power
• institutional restoration of communities through human capital

People’s deputies, representatives of central-level state authorities, diplomatic institutions of partner countries, international technical assistance projects, as well as officials of military administrations and local self-government bodies, representatives of local government associations, scientists, experts, public figures and journalists took part in the discussions.

Zaporizhzhia was represented at the event by Yevhen Myronenko, deputy head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, who took part in the panel discussion «Public administration in the de-occupied and front-line territories: territorial basis and organization of power».

The project «Formation of conceptual and legal foundations for the effective post-war recovery of the de-occupied territories of Ukraine» is implemented with the support of the «Renaissance» International Fund.

On May 21, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov arrived at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University as part of a working visit to Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Rector Viktor Greshta presented the scientific achievements of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, in particular scientific developments in the field of aircraft engine construction, mechanical engineering, materials science, metallurgy, power engineering, radio electronics, development of automated decision-making algorithms and familiarized with the modern material and technical base of the university.

The guests also visited the avionics center «AVIAGRADE – ZAPORIZHZHIA POLYTECHNIC», Children’s and Youth Scientific University «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» and the Educational Hub for displaced teachers on the basis of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.

As part of the working visit, a Presentation of the main framework of the transformation of the scientific sphere and the preliminary results of the state certification of higher education institutions was held, in which scientists of higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine took part. During the presentation, Denys Kurbatov focused on topics important to everyone:
— creation of centers of excellence that will operate on the basis of ZVO for the development of innovations, strengthening of scientific and technical potential and cooperation with the industry,
— implementation of energy efficiency projects, development of the startup movement, etc.

Zaporizka Polytechnic National University actively works in the following directions: a Science Park has been created, the National Contact Point of the Horizon Europe program operates in the field of research infrastructure, we participate in the competition for the project «Energy Sustainability of Research Infrastructure», we are part of the network of start-up schools – incubators – accelerators.

On the occasion of the Day of Science, thanks were given by the head of the Zaporizhzhia State Administration and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to Professor of the Department of Marketing and Logistics Anastasiia Zerkal, Dean of the Faculty of Information Security and Electronic Communications Nataliya Furmanov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications Harry Moroz, Head of the Department of Software Tools Serhiy Subbotin, Associate Professor of the Department of Software Tools Andrii Oliynyk, Serhiy Turpak, Head of the Department of Transport Technologies.

Denys Kurbatov also met with young scientists of higher education institutions of the region. Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University was presented by young and promising scientists of the university: Anastasiia Zerkal, Serhiy Leoshchenko, Mariia Pavlenko, Serhii Tanchenko, Larisa Tumarchenko, Maksym Avramenko, Vladyslav Nikulin and Diana Artsybasheva. The participants of the meeting discussed the support of front-line universities, the involvement of young people in participating in scientific projects of state funding, and what new motivational tools for young scientists the Ministry of Education and Science plans to introduce.

We personally thank Deputy Minister Denys Kurbatov and his team for supporting the region, Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, for creating an effective platform for communication and forming a vision for reforming the higher education system in such an important aspect as scientific activity.

Representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University took part in the strategic session «Virtue in Education: From Recommendations to Actions», which was organized by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. The event is devoted to the implementation of Methodological recommendations for ensuring transparency and integrity in higher education institutions of Ukraine. The session was attended by representatives from 11 universities of the country.

The delegation of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic was represented by: vice-rector Ruslan Kulikovsky; Alyona Stadnyk, Head of the Department of Prospective Development, Licensing, Accreditation and Education Quality; the authorized person for the prevention and detection of corruption Kseniia Khodak and the head of the student self-government Sofya Stepanenko.

During the session, the participants performed tasks in groups:
— formed a vision of integrity in institutions of higher education
— outlined current problems, identified challenges and looked for ways to systematically develop an environment of integrity
— performed role-playing work that contributed to the development of practical steps to implement the principles of integrity
— defined priority actions for institutions of higher education

Special attention of the participants was attracted by the presentation panel «Recommendations for the development of integrity in higher educational institutions: idea, meanings, priorities, challenges», which was attended by: the head of the NAZYAVO secretariat, Oleksandr Khymenko; Oleh Sharov, Director General of the Directorate of Higher Education and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture; Iryna Tymchenko, head of the Department of Educational Work and Educational Programs of the NAKC; Serhiy Mytkalyk, Chairman of the Board of the NGO «Anti-Corruption Headquarters»; expert of NGO «Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine» Anna Fedorenko.

NO «Zaporizka Polytechnic» confidently steps towards the formation of virtuous trends in education!

From May 6 to 9, an organizational meeting and training seminar were held at Tor Vergata University (Italy) under the international educational project Erasmus+ KA2 ISDEGO «Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in Bachelor’s Programs in Transport» (https://www.isdego.eu/). Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was represented at the event by the project coordinators from the university: Head of the Department of Transport Technologies Serhiy Turpak, Associate Professor of the same department Olena Ostroglyad, and Dean of the Faculty of Transport Oleksiy Kuzkin.

During the organizational meeting, the consortium partners discussed the progress of the project implementation, interim results and further steps. Olena Ostroglyad, representing Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, presented the status of the tasks and prospects of the mobility package for teachers and students. The project is being implemented in cooperation with Transylvania University of Brasov.

The participants of the event in a mixed format listened to meaningful lectures by representatives of foreign educational institutions, which took place within the framework of the training seminar «Transport Technologies: European Experience». During the allotted block, the attendees could ask questions to the speakers and discuss with colleagues the topics of the reports. Following the results of the seminar, all participants received certificates.

The event was attended by representatives of partner educational institutions: Maritime Academy of Szczecin (Poland), Tor Vergata University (Rome, Italy), Transylvania University of Brasov (Romania), University of Wismar (Germany), Technical University of Moldova (Chisinau), Bălți State University (Moldova), National Transport University (Kyiv, Ukraine), Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy named after O. M. Beketov (Ukraine), National University of Water Management and Environmental Management (Rivne, Ukraine) and Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.

The implementation of the Erasmus+ KA2 ISDEGO educational project is planned for the period from 2025 to 2027. The project involves updating educational components in bachelor’s degree programs in transport technologies and creating sustainable urban transport training laboratories in partner educational institutions in Ukraine and Moldova.

The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University team took part in the second module of the Professional Development Program for Academic Managers, dedicated to the topic «Strategy in conditions of uncertainty».

The program of the module is aimed at the formation of strategic thinking and covered relevant topics: from the basics of strategizing to cases from international practice. The participants had the opportunity to discuss trends in the development of higher education, policies in the field of science, implementation of strategic decisions and challenges facing institutions in a turbulent environment.

Special attention was paid to such aspects as the openness of science, strategic communication, as well as the practical experience of implementing strategies in Ukraine and Great Britain. The module ended with team work on improving the university’s development strategy.

On May 13, representatives of the Scientific Society of Students, Postgraduate Students, Doctoral Candidates, Young Scientists and Specialists of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University together with the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work Vadym Shalomeeyev signed a memorandum of partnership with the Council of Young Scientists of the Odessa State Agrarian University.

The signatories emphasized that the memorandum is the first step in the joint work of young scientists.

Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University concluded a cooperation agreement with «Huawei Ukraine» LLC, one of the leaders of the world market of information and communication technologies. The solemn signing took place within the framework of the implementation of joint initiatives in the field of digitization of education, development of engineering training and implementation of innovations in the field of telecommunications.

The document envisages the creation of conditions for long-term cooperation between the university and the Huawei company in such areas as:
— implementation of modern IT solutions in the educational process
— training of students and teachers according to current Huawei ICT Academy certification programs
— implementation of joint scientific, technical and educational projects
— organization of internships, trainings, hackathons and other professional events

On May 3, the traditional «Career Forum. The View of Professionals» was held for the fifth time at the Orbita Unbreakable Hub, which twice a year brings together students, schoolchildren, applicants, representatives of the university, business, and the city community.

Stories about an imperfect path, honest conversations, concrete advice, and a whole new perspective on education and career.

The speakers of the event are real practitioners who are not afraid of challenges and every day implement the boldest ideas, develop and do not stop. Viktoriia Agientaeva, director of Zaporizhzhia City Development Institute, Angelina Teslenko, founder of the gastronomic brand «Hello, Salmon», Yuliya Lekarkina, owner of the Airflow cafe and pastry shop, head of the Noosphere Engineering School laboratory, private entrepreneur Oleksiy Shevchenko – told their unique stories that inspired action. Young people also know how to surprise! The guests asked such questions, which often turned into lively discussions: about strategies in times of uncertainty, responsibility for the team, the power of intuition and the role of higher education in life, and the most favorite – technical & humanitarian!
