Students’ meeting with a psychology student from an American higher education institution

On April 1, the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University organized and held a guest online meeting on the topic «On Higher Psychological Education in the USA».

The invited guest — Sofiia Khalik — a 2nd year student at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA — told the meeting participants about herself and her studies at an American higher education institution; described the 4 main steps to becoming a psychologist in the USA; using the example of obtaining a «Clinical Psychologist» education, she described the features of undergraduate studies at her university; shared interesting facts from the life and studies of American psychology students, as well as her own experience and some professional plans; answered numerous questions from the audience.

The meeting was held in close cooperation with the Department of General and Age-Specific Psychology of the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University, with which our university signed a cooperation agreement.

The meeting was attended by more than 30 guests – students of the specialty 053 «Psychology» of various courses and forms of study and employees of the Department of Psychology of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, students of the specialty 053 «Psychology» together with the associate professor of the Department of General and Age-Specific Psychology of the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University Olena Khalik.

The guest lecture was held as part of the study of the academic discipline «Methodology of Teaching Psychology» by 4th year students (specialty «Psychology», bachelor’s degree), the lecturer was associate professor Tetyana Borodulkina.
