How to wait for your loved one to be released from captivity without losing your own life?
On October 26, the Psychological Service of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University held an event «How to wait for your loved one from captivity and save your own life» as part of the information wave of the All-Ukrainian mental health program «How are you?», initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.
The meeting was held by Alena Sadykina, coordinator of the University’s Psychological Service.
Waiting for a loved one to return from captivity is a special psychological experience, in which love, hope, anxiety, uncertainty, and exhaustion are intertwined. In such circumstances, it is extremely important not only to maintain faith in the return of a loved one, but also to find the strength to continue your own life.
During the meeting, the participants discussed important issues:
- How to maintain your own psychological resources in conditions of prolonged uncertainty?
- How to avoid turning your life into a constant waiting and learn to live for today?
- How to reduce psychological stress, relieve the psyche and restore emotional strength?
- How to maintain physical and mental health, make plans, develop and find new meanings even in difficult life circumstances?
Special attention was paid to practical psychological techniques for self-regulation, restoring internal resources, working with anxiety, and regaining a sense of control over one’s own life.
The thematic wave «Supporting Women Whose Relatives Serve» was created jointly with UNICEF Ukraine as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program «How Are You?» – an initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
