Training on providing psychological first aid from the charitable non-governmental organization UK-Med: for students, university employees and psychologists of Zaporizhzhia
In March, the Department of Psychology organized Training on providing psychological first aid from the charitable non-governmental organization UK-Med Ukraine. The UK-Med Ukraine team of psychologists conducted the following trainings on March 20, 21, 27 and 28, which were attended by 87 participants, including students and master’s students of the specialty «Psychology», employees of the department, as well as applicants for other specialties, graduates, partners and stakeholders of the department, crisis psychologists and social workers of the Center for Helping the Rescued, the «Smile of the Ukrainian Academy» Foundation, the president of the NGO «Ukrainian Women», employees of various structural divisions of our university, teachers of Zaporizhzhia gymnasiums No. 47 and No. 45, etc.
The training on providing psychological first aid was developed by UK-Med Ukraine specialists to spread the skills of providing psychological first aid in crisis situations, contained an interactive theoretical part and practical exercises, which were conducted in the form of discussions of crisis events, role-playing games on providing first aid psychological assistance, self-help.
The participants highly appreciated the level of training, the usefulness of the acquired skills, the practicality and relevance of each exercise that was offered.
In the near future, each participant will receive an electronic certificate of completion of the Training on Providing Psychological First Aid from UK-Med Ukraine.
Participation in the event of applicants for specialty 053 «Psychology» was carried out in accordance with the action plan of the Department of Psychology for the implementation and development of the mental health program with the identification of priority areas of systemic work on psychological support, the creation of a system of services on mental health issues. All UK-Med Ukraine trainings are conducted free of charge in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
