From March 11 to 15, the Catholic University of Leuven (Campus de Nieuws, Sint-Cathalien-Waver, Belgium) hosted events under the international educational project Erasmus+ WORK4CE “Cross-domain Competencies for Ensuring Healthy and Safe Work in the 21st Century”, namely: pilot training of students, as well as working meetings of representatives of the consortium’s partner universities to discuss the current results of the project and current tasks for its successful completion in the fall of this year.

During the week, students from Zaporizhzhia Polytechnicians Daryna Kachanska (T-311), Tetyana Solyana (MTE-210), Kateryna Kosinevska (MTE-212sp) studied and worked in international teams together with students from HEIs in Belgium, Germany, Spain, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan.

The topic of the pilot study was  “Personal Energy-Efficient Mobility in the Future”. In accordance with the goal, the students mastered the materials prepared by the project team using the project’s learning environment, listened to lectures from leading experts from different countries, in particular from the Zaporizhia Polytechnic University, Prof. Galyna Tabunshchyk gave a lecture “Digital Twins as a Means of Increasing the Efficiency of Electric Vehicles.” Under the guidance of mentors (Dean of the Faculty of Transport Oleksiy Kuzkin and Associate Professor of the Department of Software Tools Anzhelika Parkhomenko), the students developed an educational game and completed the research part already at their home universities, working online in distributed teams.

During working meetings led by project coordinator Halyna Tabunshchyk with the participation of an external expert on project quality assessment Dirk Van Merode, representatives of partner universities reported on the work for the period March 2023 – March 2024, in particular, from NU Zaporizhia Polytechnic, Assoc. Prof. Anzhelika Parkhomenko made a presentation of the project team’s achievements over the past year. The issue of organizing the next pilot training of students in Azerbaijan in April 2024, the need to finalize the training materials, their review and electronic publication, as well as the certification of the developed training modules were also discussed.

The project participants also discussed areas of further cooperation with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the KU Leuven Bert Lauwers and the Head of the Department of External Relations of the Faculty of Engineering of the KU Leuven Hilde Lauwereys.

During a meeting with the Director of the IDiAL Institute of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Germany) Carsten Wolf, the Head of the Educational and Methodological Department of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic Andriy Parkhomenko agreed the issue of organizing and conducting a Virtual Master’s School based on educational and methodological materials developed within the framework of joint projects, as well as the implementation of a double diploma program between Zaporizhia Polytechnic University and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Germany).
