Unbreakable person – unbreakable country
On March 21, an educational and practical event «Unbreakable person – unbreakable country» was held as part of the grant competition «School of Unbreakability», organized by the School of Robotics «Forward to the Future» in cooperation with the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 5.
The children were congratulated by the rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, Viktor Greshta, acting Mayor of Zaporizhzhia Anatolii Kurtiev, Director of the Children and Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova, Physics teacher of Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 5 Yevgenia Pavlenko, Head of the Engineering School «Noosphere» Oleksiy Shevchenko and Director of the School of Robotics «Forward to the Future» Denys Kabanenko.
The event was attended by students of grades 6-9 from Zaporizhzhia Gymnasiums No. 1, No. 2, No. 5, No. 6, No. 12, No. 28, No. 60, No. 61, No. 63, No. 100, No. 107, No. 109, Collegium «Elint», Zaporizhzhia Technical Lyceum, Zaporizhzhia Academic Lyceum No. 23, KZ «Dniprorudnenskaya Comprehensive School of I-III Degrees »Talant«.
During the lesson led by Yevgenia Pavlenko, participants gained knowledge about the basic concepts and laws of electricity; skills in drawing up electrical circuits with a light bulb and a propeller on educational electronic designers.
Denys Kabanenko (ForwardToTheFuture) and Oleksiy Shevchenko helped schoolchildren use a soldering station for the first time to create a portable flashlight.
The children got acquainted with the types of renewable energy sources, gained basic knowledge about batteries and chargers, and made their own power banks, some of which were transferred to the needs of the Educational Space »Dii” of the Education Department of the Energodar City Council and for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sergiy Chinyonov, director of the engineering company «Thermotechnologies», demonstrated a model and explained to children the principles of operation and energy generation using the example of a solar power plant (ONLYSolar.zp)
The participants visited the Museum of the History of Technical Progress of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, gained practical skills at the «School of Drone Operators», tested themselves using augmented reality glasses, and got acquainted with mechatronics and industrial automation tools at the Department of «Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations» Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic.
During the break, the children were treated to delicacies from the event sponsors NGO «BELUGA UA».
Such classes are a component of the development of science and mathematics education (STEM education) and are the basis for motivating students to choose modern engineering and technical specialties, which the Zaporizhzhia region and Ukraine need for post-war reconstruction.
