Teacher training in English language courses for teaching in higher education

Thanks to the participation of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University in the projects of the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD «Virtual Master Cooperation Data Science» (ViMaCs) and «EuroPIM Virtual Master School Ukraine» (EU-ViMUk), the scientific and pedagogical staff of the university completed the courses:

• «English language for teaching in higher education» (English-Medium Instruction in Higher Education) of the Norwich Institute of Language Education (Norwich, Great Britain) in a distance format: Head of the Department of Software S.O. Kaplienko, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technologies of Electronic Media N.O. Mironova, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks M.Yu. Tyagunova, Assistant, Postgraduate Student of the Department of Software S.D. Leoshchenko)
• «Training of Teachers: English for Teacher Training» at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Dortmund, Germany) in full-time format: Head of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​Yu.O. Sobol, Associate Professor of the Department of Software A.V. Parkhomenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Systems and Networks, Associate Professor of the Department of Software Part-time I.Ya. Zelenyova, Associate Professor of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation, Associate Professor of the Department of Software Part-time A.E. Kazurova.

The course programs included an overview of the relevant courses, an overview of the most important factors affecting teaching in English, a presentation of modern pedagogical technologies, an overview of teaching tools, various practical tasks, individual performances and group communication, completion of an individual task and receiving feedback from a foreign teacher.

Within the courses, the students received important theoretical knowledge and practical experience in applying modern pedagogical technologies and tools, in particular for teaching activities, as well as providing language support to applicants when teaching in English. The knowledge and skills obtained will contribute to the further participation of university employees in international activities, improve the quality of their teaching skills and the overall level of European integration of the university.
