Address by Serhiy Shkarlet, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine
The eighth day of the Russian Federation’s merciless war against Ukraine!
Every day the aggressor inflicts devastating and cruel blows on our country. It destroys kindergartens and schools, colleges and universities, roads, factories, and most importantly, it destroys our people.
Every day, the Russian enemy openly and repeatedly launches rocket, bomb, and artillery strikes on peaceful cities and civilian objects.
As of today, more than 160 educational institutions have been completely or partially destroyed.
During the war, hundreds of innocent people died at the hands of the enemy! These are irreparable losses, the blood of which will always be on the hands of the aggressor.
I want to address my fellow educators! In the most difficult time for the country, you have shown incredible patriotism, unity, and strength.
In each region, places for displaced persons have been organized in educational institutions, fighters are provided with food, powerful humanitarian headquarters have been created in some regions, and necessary assistance is being provided. You are the pride of the Ukrainian people.
Ukrainian children and teachers are now forced to hide in shelters from hourly rocket attacks and experience terrible psychological trauma. That is why, together with partners and higher education institutions, a series of information materials have been prepared by Svitlana Royz for psychological support of children, and daily online meetings have been organized at @eduhub.in.ua with certified psychologists of the Association for Innovative and Digital Education. The Telegram channel «Support the child» is open to support children in difficult times with easy exercises that can be performed while in shelter or at home.
The Viber community «School_info» has launched an educational initiative under martial law. They are publishing tasks for students in grades 1-4, because forced «vacations» should not interfere with development and education.
The distance school «Optima» has opened free access to the educational platform for all children who have the Internet. The CIOS online mathematics platform has opened free access for teachers and students until March 31.
The Telegram channel «Pavlusha and Java» publishes audio tales for families with children who are in bomb shelters.
The Facebook page of the Coordination Center for the Accommodation of Victims of the Russian Aggression in Ukraine is open.
The voice of our state is our children, who grew up to be true patriots of Ukraine during the week of the war. We are sharing all the videos we receive from children so that the whole world can hear us.
A low bow and respect to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the territorial defense units.
Dear Ukrainians! We are a strong nation! Together we can do anything!
