Meeting of the Council of Rectors of Zaporizhzhia Region on January 18, 2024
On January 18, a meeting of the Council of Rectors of Zaporizhzhia Region was held at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University with the participation of representatives of local authorities, employers and student organizations.
The main topics for discussion were:
- the draft Procedure for Admission to Higher Education in 2024
- draft amendments to legislation, in particular amendments to some legislative acts related to the mobilization procedure
- legal and social analysis of the proposed reforms in the field of higher education
Special attention was paid to such relevant issues:
- optimization of the network of higher education institutions
- reform of the system of state procurement and training at the expense of state grants, and related changes in scholarship and social security
- changes in the procedure for electing the head of a higher education institution
- modernization of the system of professional pre-higher education and preservation of professional colleges in the university structure
- institutional autonomy
- forms of obtaining education
- social inclusion
- nationwide and regional influence of higher education institutions
Educators proposed to apply balanced and substantiated approaches in reforming the education system, taking into account the state of war, and focused on the need to preserve the country’s intellectual and scientific potential, create conditions for access to higher education, given the difficult migration situation and the importance of state support for displaced higher education institutions.
