XVII Podolsk Scientific Historical and Local History Conference
On September 22, 2023, the XVII Podolsk Scientific Historical and Local History Conference was held at the Khmelnytsky Cooperative Trade and Economic Institute.
In total, 154 scientists took part in the scientific meeting: 27 Doctors of Science, 40 Candidates, 3 Doctors of Philosophy, as well as historians, economists, political scientists, journalists, local historians, cultural and public figures from eight regions of Ukraine – Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, representatives of the regional council, the commander of the 136th separate rifle battalion. Some of the participants joined the participation via video conference. A minute of silence was observed to honor the memory of the defenders and civilians who died as a result of Russian aggression.
The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was represented at the conference by a team of authors consisting of Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Oleksandr Belov (Kyiv), Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Mykola Dedkov, and Head of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Georgy Shapovalov. They successfully presented at the plenary session of the conference with a report «The Ivankovets Idol of Perun from Khmelnytskyi Region – a Unique Source for the Early Medieval History of the Ukrainian Trident».
