A meeting was held in the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration on admission to higher education institutions in 2022
On April 7, a meeting was held in the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration with the participation of the Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Oleksandr Starukh, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Liudmyla Bukharina, Rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Greshta, Rector of the Zaporizhzhia State Medical University Yurii Kolesnyk, Rector of the Zaporizhzhia National University Mykola Frolov, President of Motor Sich JSC Vyacheslav Boguslaev, Director of Personnel Management of Motor Sich JSC Olimpiy Pokatov, and Assistant to the President of Motor Sich JSC Ruslan Pydorich.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss admission to higher education institutions in 2022. The situation in the country led to the need to develop a new temporary admission mechanism, the educational process under martial law in the system of general secondary education has become significantly more complicated, and the significant easing of admission conditions for graduates of Ukrainian schools to higher education institutions in Poland, the Czech Republic and other European countries in 2022 (without exams, free of charge, no language requirements) only intensified competition with foreign educational institutions.
During the meeting, they discussed not only the importance of maximally simplifying the admission procedure, but also this year’s need to provide universities with a fixed number of state-ordered places for applicants based on complete general secondary education. Special attention during the discussion was paid to the issue of admission of graduates of technical schools and colleges. They expressed the opinion that this year, given the situation in the country, it is appropriate to allow admission to universities based on the results of professional entrance exams in higher education institutions.
Summing up the first part of the meeting, the rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Greshta addressed the members of the meeting with a proposal to form a consolidated position of higher education institutions of the Zaporizhzhia region and to appeal to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the state leadership to take into account a number of proposals in the «Conditions for admission to higher education in 2022.»
The second part of the meeting was devoted to an equally important issue – the prospects for comprehensively increasing industrial potential for the benefit of the sustainable development of the Zaporizhzhia region. In our region, metallurgical and machine-building enterprises have always played a significant role in the formation of economic and human potential. After a long discussion, we came to the conclusion that today the industry needs a powerful impetus for the development of the metallurgical direction in conjunction with such important industries as mechanical engineering and electric power engineering, and this impetus could be the creation of a modern metallurgical institute.
