Participation of teachers and students of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University in the International Autumn School within the framework of the international project ViMaCs2
From September 4 to 8, 2023, the International Autumn School on the topic «Advanced Perspectives in Data Science» was held at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Dortmund, Germany) within the framework of the international project «Virtual Master Cooperation Data Science (ViMaCs), phase 2» («Virtual (online) Master’s Cooperation in Intelligent Data Processing (ViMaCs)», phase 2, https://go-study-europe.de/vimacs/). The ViMaCs project aims to create a virtual infrastructure for digital learning and a portfolio of modules in the field of Data Science.
The school’s topics covered a number of subtopics:
- process approach for collecting and processing Big Data;
- Big Data tools;
- Python for data analysis;
- working with open data;
- model evaluations: key indicators;
- stakeholder assessment.
As part of the International Autumn School, teachers from partner universities of the ViMaCs project (Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Dortmund, Germany), Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine), Western Ukrainian National University (Ternopil, Ukraine), Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Lviv Polytechnic National University (Lviv, Ukraine) took part in conducting lectures and seminars.
The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was represented by the following teachers:
- Associate Professor of the Department of Software Tools Tetyana Kaplienko with a workshop on the topic «Discovery »Jira Product Discovery«», which is aimed at how to organize communication with clients and technical teams, how to record and prioritize ideas, as well as how to collaborate on individual roadmaps«;
- Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technologies of Electronic Tools Nataliia Mironova with a lecture on the topic »Introduction to Big Data Tools« and a workshop »Cloud Tools for Big Data Processing«.
Seven students of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University participated in the school, including: four undergraduate and graduate students of the Department of Software Tools: Vladislav Terekhov (KNT-212), Artem Balabukha (KNT-212), Illia Parkhomenko (KNT-212), Anastasiia Yatsenko (KNT-213m), undergraduate students Departments of Transport Technologies: Daryna Kachanska (T-311), Information Technologies of Electronic Means: Denys Bilka (BK-610) and Construction Production and Project Management Anna Moskalova (BAD-111), who had the opportunity to apply their knowledge in the process of learning and working in teams.
Students had the opportunity to apply their knowledge by solving a case provided by Kyiv Municipal Enterprise »Center for Road Traffic Organization«, and at the end of the week the results of the teams’ work were presented to company representatives.
Students and teachers of NU »Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” have been participating in the winter, summer and autumn schools of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts for many years and we hope for further development cooperation.
