The third day of the All-Ukrainian Forum «Educational Leadership Days»
The third day of the All-Ukrainian Forum «Educational Leadership Days», organized by Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, has come to an end.
The work of the third day was opened by the vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and development prospects of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, Ruslan Kulikovsky, who spoke about the conditions for obtaining certificates by the participants of the event. Ruslan Anatoliyovych also presented the main topic of the lecture from the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic — «Leadership as a means of stimulating the green transformation of Ukrainian universities.» The report considered the key aspects of the role of a leader in the sustainable development of the university; the key principles of green transformation of higher education institutions are analyzed and practical examples of the implementation of green technologies are given; present state, challenges and prospects of green transformation of universities in Ukraine; the criteria for measuring the leadership of the world’s universities are shown on the example of the development of a special rating system that takes into account the critical indicators of the sustainable development of universities and their environmental initiatives.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, Vladyslav Korolkov, gave a lecture on the topic «Knowledge Management in the System of Innovative Renewal», which revealed one of the traits of a leader – the ability to use knowledge to make informed decisions. It was emphasized that the leader must be able to not only use his own knowledge, he must manage the dissemination of knowledge and support talents who, based on the acquired knowledge, form innovative Start-Up projects. In the conditions of development and spread of «Industry – 4.0» technologies, innovative transformations become the basis of further development of Ukraine, and it is talents that become generators of innovative renewal.
Mariia Pavlenko, Head of Student Self-Government of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, presented the current trends in the activities of student self-government bodies in Ukraine and Europe, noting the advantages and disadvantages of the functioning systems of student organizations in different countries, and highlighted the main prospects for the development of the student movement of Ukrainian higher education institutions in terms of educational leadership.
In the report of the head of the project activity department of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Andriy Karpenko, the essence and main features of leadership in educational and business activities were revealed, the key role of the university and business association in the formation of the subsystem of generation and commercialization of knowledge in the post-war reconstruction was substantiated, the leadership practice of the development of the Zaporizhzhia cluster «IAM» was presented, an important emphasis was placed on the formation of strategic leadership in the region by the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
Nataliia Lazebna, associate professor of the Julius-Maximilian University of Wurzburg (Germany), gave a speech «Innovative approaches to teaching English in higher education institutions of Ukraine and Germany: intercultural and digital aspects.» The report presented the specifics of modern practices of teaching English as a foreign language in institutions of higher education in an intercultural environment. In the global context of knowledge mediation, useful digital platforms, learning materials and tools, English-language text corpora, chatbots, as well as data-driven learning are highlighted. The transition from a quantitative to a qualitative educational approach, personally oriented interaction between a student and a teacher, the role of the «machine» as an intermediary in the process of teaching English as a foreign language was represented, because thanks to the improvement of digital skills and competencies, media literacy and academic development, participants in the educational process turn into competent digital citizens of the world.
Olena Skuibida, Head of the Department of Prospective Development, Licensing, Accreditation, and Quality of Education at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, spoke on the topic of «Teaching and Teaching on the Basis of Leadership.» The types and aspects of educational leadership, the framework documents of the European Higher Education Area, which lay the foundations of modern approaches to learning and teaching, the peculiarities of learning and teaching through the prism of educational leadership, leadership in the activities of NNP, as well as the main qualities and skills of a teacher-leader were considered. Also, Olena Leonidivna held a workshop where the participants discussed the problems and strategic directions of the internal system of ensuring the quality of education of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University.
The trainer of the workshop «Leadership and team building» was the associate professor of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University Nataliya Furmanova, who in practice showed the participants the methodology of developing leadership competencies in a game form, sharing her training experience from the British Council.
The master class «Speechwriting as an art of communicative influence: modern requirements for the public speech of an educational leader» was conducted by Iryna Tonkih, an associate professor of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University. The peculiarities of the activity of an educational leader, storytelling technology as a component of the leader’s rhetorical competence, methods of attracting attention, interactive means of activating the audience, non-verbal behavior of the speaker and typical mistakes of public speeches were considered.
At the end, the head of the organizing committee and the head of the All-Ukrainian Forum «Days of Educational Leadership» – the rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University Viktor Greshta thanked the speakers and participants for their work and high level of preparation.
