Subbotnik in any weather

On April 11, 2013, despite the weather, a subbotnik was held on the island of Khortytsia, where our students also participated. 15 people were sent by bus from our university. The subbotnik was held on the initiative and organization of the Youth Council under the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council of Trade Unions under the leadership of the head of the council Andriy Ivanchenko.

Our task was to clean up the garbage along the Dnieper River, so when we arrived, we didn’t think for long, but immediately plunged into work together.

I want to say that there was quite a bit of garbage, which cannot but please, and it means that Zaporizhzhia people have a sense of respect for their native land and its history. The funniest and most unusual finds we managed to find were boots, men’s swimming trunks and a lot of kitchen utensils…

After cleaning, we were given a tour of Zaporizhzhia Sich. We visited the church and saw many interesting places on the island. We had a great opportunity to immerse ourselves in a piece of history… and the tour guide helped us with this.

After a good cleaning and excursion, we were set up at a common table, where we had a snack and had the opportunity to chat with everyone.

In general, the time was spent both for the benefit of the environment and for the benefit of us, because we not only helped, but also learned a lot of valuable information, saw a lot of interesting and new things for ourselves, met new people. And with the arrival of spring – it is also a joy for the soul… and the soul is always comfortable where there is clean nature and fresh air… regardless of the weather! =)
