Subbotnik as a combination of pleasant and useful!
April 20 is marked in the calendar by a special event that concerns, no matter how global it may sound, every inhabitant of our planet. From year to year, this day encourages all progressive humanity to think more actively about issues of helping nature, because it is called Environment Day.
As you know, in order to do something large-scale, you need to start small. Therefore, without claiming to participate in an international event to save endangered species, our students, at the initiative of the trade union committee of ZNTU students, showed themselves at a large subbotnik as part of the nationwide campaign «Let’s make Ukraine clean!». We successfully restored order in one of the sectors of the Central Park of Culture and Recreation «Oak Grove». So, I want to share the details of the event.
We were lucky to participate in the most massive subbotnik in Zaporizhzhia. Together with us, students of other Zaporizhzhia universities and colleges, workers of «Zaporizhstal», «Zaporizhkoks», «Zaporizhvognetriv» and «ZAZ», as well as representatives of regional and city authorities, made the city cleaner. After the solemn speech of Mayor Oleksandr Chensanovich Sin, as well as other respected and important people of the native land, everyone went to the designated areas in an organized manner.
Cleaning up in a good company, where everyone supports each other and shares a good mood, cannot be tiring! In addition, it is very pleasant that there was quite a bit of unnatural garbage, and we mainly eliminated dry leaves. This speaks of the consciousness of Zaporizhzhia residents: they care about the comfort of their native city, strive for its prosperity.
The organizers of the event pleased us with a clear program. The participants had the opportunity not only to work in the fresh air for the benefit of their native land and their own health, but also to treat themselves to a camping porridge and show all their agility and enthusiasm in the relay race! So, after eating, we gathered a group of the bravest and most athletic, who were sent to compete with 10 other teams, and we ourselves, not sparing our hands and throats, began to cheer for ours from the bottom of our hearts. I wouldn’t like to brag, but it’s a fact: the «Mashynkiv» fans are the friendliest and loudest, which was noted by many relay participants! And a team with good support is able to achieve good results: our athletes took the 3rd place of honor, were awarded a diploma, medals and tickets to attractions. We sincerely congratulate the guys and wish them new victories on the occasion!
After the relay race, the director of the Central Park of Culture and Recreation «Dubovy Gay» Volodymyr Zakharov and the head of the Zaporizhzhia Department of Youth Affairs Ihor Pylypenko congratulated those present on the successful completion of the Subbotnik. They expressed gratitude to the participants and voiced their joy that the number of volunteers who want to contribute to the well-being of the city is increasing every year.
It’s nice to participate in such events. When you know that your work was not in vain, when you spend time in nature, in good company with the benefit of yourself and your native land. In general, Subbotniks are a very important phenomenon, in which it is simply necessary to take at least the slightest part, and how good it is that our students, led by the ZNTU trade union committee, understand this!
