The Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES) at George Washington University (Washington, USA) has decided to announce scholarship programs for the training of Ukrainian teachers and scholars in Ukrainian studies and international relations who are currently in Ukraine or worked in Ukraine before the start of the full-scale armed invasion by Russia.
The Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies scholarships will be provided to Ukrainian scholars in three areas:
1. Distance learning (Non-resident Fellowship)
Duration: 12 months;
Terms: September 2023 – August 2024;
Total vacancies: 12;
Stipend: 800 USD per month.
Applying is open to lecturers from higher education institutions of Ukraine and scholars from other institutions whose work is related to Ukrainian studies and international relations. Candidates must be fluent in English. Internally displaced citizens of Ukraine will be given priority.

2. Junior Visiting Fellowship
Duration: 12 months;
Dates: September 2023 – August 2024;
Total vacancies: 1;
Stipend: 60,000 USD.
Young Ukrainian scholars who are fluent in English and have a PhD degree, whose research topics are related to Ukrainian studies and international relations, are invited to apply. The selected candidate under the IERES program will be able to continue his research activities in the USA for 1 year.

3. Senior Visiting Fellowship
Duration: one semester (5 months);
Dates: fall 2023 (August – December) and spring 2024 (January – May);
Total vacancies: 2 (1 for each semester);
Scholarship: 35 thousand US dollars.
Applications can be submitted by heads of higher education institutions of Ukraine with a professorial staff or senior researchers from other institutions whose research topics are related to Ukrainian studies and international relations. Candidates will be invited to IERES for a period of 1 semester to conduct research work and participate in other activities of the Institute.
