Results of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Scientific Papers on Artificial Intelligence-2023

On November 28-29, the final conference of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Scientific Papers on Artificial Intelligence was held at the National Technical University of Ukraine «Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute».

The goal of the competition was to activate students’ research work, stimulate interest in science and technology among young people, and promote the solution of problems and practical tasks in the field of artificial intelligence.

The competition considered works in the following areas: data analysis, computer vision, natural language processing, computational intelligence and speech recognition.

The competition was held in two stages:

• Round 1 – September-October 2023 year, in higher education institutions
• II round — November 2023, KPI named after. Ihor Sikorsky

According to the results of the 1st round at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, the winners were:

I — Maksym Chornobuk (KNT-210) «Computer model for detecting cervical spine fractures based on computed tomography images» (scientific supervisor — Yevhen Fedorchenko, senior lecturer of the Department of Software).

II — Yuliy Gorichenko (KNT-222m) «Research and software implementation of intelligent methods and models for energy consumption control» (scientific supervisor — Anzhelika Parkhomenko, associate professor of the Department of Software).

III — Kateryna Panychuk (KNT-130) «Software for accounting of medicines in a universal first aid kit» (scientific supervisor – Andriy Oliynyk, professor of the Department of Software).

According to the results of the rating conducted by the competition commission within the framework of the 2nd round, our students took worthy places among 53 submitted scientific papers from universities across Ukraine: Yuliy Gorichenko — 3rd place, Maksym Chornobuk — 7th place, Kateryna Panychuk — 20th place.

The authors of the 20 best, in the opinion of the expert commission, papers were invited to the final scientific and practical conference in Kyiv. From Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, student Yuliy Gorichenko participated in the conference, presenting his work, answering questions from conference participants, and giving an interview to the TV channel «Dim», during which he talked about his work and demonstrated the developed software.

For their part, the partners took part in the conference and held presentations on relevant topics: «SoftServe» – ​​«Implementation of artificial intelligence in modern software», «Infopulse» – «Can artificial intelligence replace developers?», «Sigma Software» – «Development of navigation systems for UAVs».
