Robotics Programming – Educational Mini-Course
On October 18-19, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, together with the Public Organization «School of Robotics »Forward to the Future« (Zaporizhzhia) and Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 5 of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, within the framework of the European initiative »EU Code Week«, held the event »Robotics Programming – Educational Mini-Course«.
Students from Zaporizhzhia schools registered for the event: about 50 students aged 9 to 17 will learn about robotics programming, namely quadcopters.
The students were welcomed by the rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Viktor Greshta, vice-rector Andriy Ivanchenko, head of the Department of Electric Drive and automation of industrial installations Andriy Pyrozhok, director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova, director of Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 5 Nataliya Shancheva, physics teacher of Zaporizhzhia Gymnasium No. 5 Yevheniya Pavlenko and director of the School of Robotics »Forward to the Future” Denys Kabanenko.
During the classes, the children got acquainted with the areas of application of quadcopters and professions in which drones can be used, their design, aerodynamics and various control principles. We examined the main stages of flight programming using SCRATCH and PYTHON, learned how to program takeoff and landing, turns and flips, calculated the flight trajectory along a route with obstacles, and also prepared an automatic flight according to the program ourselves.
Given the security situation, during the alert, classes were held in the bomb shelter of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University.
The atmosphere of the event was friendly and relaxed, the students quickly made friends and were very happy with their own successes. During the break, our guests were treated to delicacies from the organizers of the event.
We are sure that the meeting increased interest in modern engineering technologies and became a driving force on the path to the growth of a new era of Ukrainian scientists and inventors!
The doors of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University are always open to everyone who strives to develop!
