Youth from Zaporizhia Polytechnic University won the city robotics competition “Big Races”

On May 17, the city robotics competition “Great Races” was held, dedicated to the popularization of STEM education and IT skills among young people. The competition included two nominations – “LEGO” and “Arduino”. Participants had to develop a robot car, which they used to overcome obstacles and compete in speed while completing various tasks.

The participants of the competition were congratulated by Vice-Rector Ruslan Kulikovsky, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science Andriy Khmelnytskyi, Director of the Kommunarsky District Center for Youth and Schoolchildren Mykhailo Khvastyk, Director of the Avionics Center “AVIAGRADE — ZAPORIZHZHIA POLYTECHNIC” and the chief judge of the competition Roman Pavlyuk. The sponsors and friends of the event also took the floor – representatives of the Tavriyski zori-2023 Charity Foundation – Inna Solomyana, Anna Soboleva, Kateryna Kinineeva, as well as the co-founder of the foundation Serhiy Katrechko.

The winners in the “LEGO” nomination were students of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”:
1st place – Yaroslav Shefer
2nd place – Yegor Shulym

The head of the “LEGO STEM-Laboratory” group – Volodymyr Osadchy, associate professor of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations. The winners of the competition received interesting prizes and goodies.

The event was organized by the Kommunarsky District Center for Youth and Schoolchildren and the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University with the support of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhia City Council and the Tavriyski Zori-2023 Charitable Foundation.

The event was filled with an atmosphere of friendly competition, and the agility and creative solutions of young engineers left no chance of defeat.
