Modernization of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic Dormitories
A productive summer of 2023 for the university’s employees and partners — the public organization «Proliska», the International Organization for Migration, charitable organizations, the Stabilization Support Services Charitable Foundation and the Right to Protection Charitable Foundation, «Posmishka Yua» — continued to equip Dormitory No. 3 for the comfortable residence of people affected by the armed conflict.
Today, many positive changes can be seen.
Common kitchens are gradually being updated — new gas stoves, dining tables. In June, one of the kitchens underwent cosmetic repairs – old windows were replaced with metal-plastic ones, new lighting and plumbing were installed, and the walls and floor were painted.
The furniture in the residents’ rooms was partially updated – new wardrobes, bedside tables, hanging shelves and chairs were installed, and 3 air conditioners were installed in the leisure rooms.
As part of the project «Protection and Legal Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons and Persons Affected by the Conflict in Eastern Ukraine», a psychological support room for children and adults appeared on the fifth floor of the dormitory, equipped with two sets of children’s furniture (tables, chairs), beanbag chairs, children’s tatami mats and multi-colored floor puzzles.
In July, an information center for distance learning for dormitory residents began operating in the dormitory, equipped with laptops, tablets and multifunctional printing devices.
During the summer months, the dormitory received tool kits and consumables for the ongoing work of electricians, plumbers and carpenters (screwdrivers, punchers, jigsaws, grinders, soldering irons, pipe cutters, sets of hand tools for electricians and plumbers, safety glasses, extension cords, drills, screws, clamps, cutting wheels, drills, jigsaw saws, trimmer line, lubricant, etc.).
