Round table with heads of secondary education institutions
On November 10, at the initiative of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and with the support of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, a round table was held with heads of territorial education departments, directors of secondary education institutions, extracurricular educational institutions of the city of Zaporizhzhia and the region, and representatives of parent committees. The main purpose of the event was to discuss the prospects and plans for further cooperation in the implementation of specialized and STEM education.
The university rector Viktor Greshta, deputy mayor Anatoliy Vasyuk and director of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhzhia City Council Yuliia Pogrebnyak, chairman of the board of directors of professional colleges Barshay O.K.
The directors were shown practical ideas for further joint implementation. Representatives of the university presented their original projects.
The general vision of the concept of developing STEAM education was presented by Pavlo Glushko, a senior lecturer at the Department of Metal Cutting Machine Tools and Instruments. Oleksiy Shevchenko, head of the laboratory of the Noosphere Engineering School, proposed joining two projects within the framework of implementing STEAM education – STEAM CanSAT School and STEAM KSP School. Kateryna Bratkovska, associate professor of the department «Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises», spoke in detail about the engineering method of planning STEAM projects.
After a fruitful discussion, most of the formats were agreed upon and interesting proposals were made.
In addition to the ways of developing STEAM education, the possibility of joint work on preparing children to write research papers for the Small Academy of Sciences, new approaches to career guidance for schoolchildren and their preparation for university admission, were discussed.
We are confident that this is only the first step towards creating a rich educational space for children in the city of Zaporizhzhia.
