Communicative training for first-year psychologists

The Department of Psychology continues a series of trainings and master classes for its applicants. Thus, on December 6, a training was held for psychology students of the 1st year (groups SN-113 and SN-123) – «Depths of mutual understanding: self-knowledge and self-regulation of emotions», conducted by Anastasiia Garmash (teacher of the department, curator of the first year) and Yelyzaveta Pashchenko (student of the 4th year, group SN-110). The first-year students who are currently in our front-line city became participants. A total of 24 students were involved.

During the training, Anastasiia Garmash introduced the participants to the theoretical aspects of self-knowledge and self-regulation of emotions, and Elizaveta Pashchenko supplemented the theoretical block with examples from her own student life. The acquired knowledge became the basis for the practical part of the training, where the participants had the opportunity to use the acquired tools for their own self-knowledge and regulation of emotions.

Group exercises, discussions and role-playing games allowed students to experience in practice the importance of managing their own emotional state in various situations. During the training, special attention was paid to the importance of balancing emotions and their positive impact on personality development. As Anastasiia Garmash notes: «Studying one’s own emotions and the skills of their regulation can be the key to improving the quality of life and achieving personal and professional growth.»

The training «Depths of mutual understanding: self-awareness and self-regulation of emotions» became an example of how psychological knowledge can be practically implemented in the everyday life of students to improve their self-regulation and self-awareness skills and help them achieve success both in education and in future professional activities. The highlight of the training was the game «Secret Santa», during which the participants had the opportunity to make gifts for each other.

Training participants were delighted with the meeting and gave positive feedback to the presenters.

The Department of Psychology plans to continue to hold a series of trainings and master classes for our applicants, to involve more and more students in group interaction.
