The Department of Transport Technologies is 50 years old
On October 4, 2022, the Department of Transport Technologies will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The Department was founded in 1972 with the support of the heads of industrial enterprises of the city of Zaporizhzhia on the basis of the Department of Production Economics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Zaporizhzhia Machine-Building Institute and until March 10, 2000 was called «Industrial Transport».
For many years, the Department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Hennadii Babushkin (over 23 years), and since 2018, his successor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Serhiy Turpak, has been the head of the Department.
The training of specialists is carried out in specialties 275 «Transport Technologies (in Railway Transport)» and 275 «Transport Technologies (Road Transport)», which are unique for the Zaporizhzhia region and one of the most popular among applicants. The department employs highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff with experience in practical work in the specialty, including 8 doctors (7 professors) and 4 candidates of technical sciences (2 associate professors), 4 senior lecturers.
The department is dynamically developing and is involved in many new projects. Since 2020, the annual All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference «Transport Technologies and Road Safety» has been held. In 2021, the scientific school «Transport Systems and Technologies» was created. By the end of this year, it is planned to open a new educational program «Flight Operation of Aircraft» in specialty 272 «Aviation Transport».
Today, during a ceremonial meeting of the department, the rector of the university – Viktor Greshta and the dean of the Faculty of Transport – Oleksiy Kuzkin congratulated the teachers, students and graduates of the department on the occasion of the anniversary.
The head of the department, Serhiy Turpak, congratulated his native department on its 50th anniversary, wished the team to continue to develop, reach new heights and boldly step forward.
