Interactive lesson on the occasion of World Mental Health Day: psychological game «Power Inside online»

It is known that the use of interactive technologies in the educational process allows you to turn the study of any topic into a creative and interesting process! And acquaintance not only with traditionally known forms of work of a psychologist, but also with modern psychological tools expands the professional ideas of future specialists. Thus, on the occasion of preparing for World Mental Health Day, during practical classes in the academic discipline «Practical course in general psychology», second-year students of the specialty 053 «Psychology» (group SN-112), accompanied by associate professor of the Department of Psychology Tetyana Borodulkina, got acquainted with the psychological game «Power Inside online» («Power Inside»), developed by Ukrainian specialists: game technicians Kostiantyn Haliuk (head of the training company «Game Academy»), Yuliia Haliuk and perinatal psychologist Darya Kunchenko.

During the game, the student group was divided into players and observers, each of whom had their own tasks. Players could, by completing the game tasks and moving around the playing field, find an internal resource, their inner strength, and find new strategies for behavior in familiar situations. By experiencing game situations and helping the fairy-tale characters of the game, players learned to find a way out of real-life situations. «It helps to be a resource, because by helping others, we help ourselves,» say the authors of the game «Power Inside online».

The observers also had their own mission during the game. Each of them played the role of an «Observer Angel» for one of their fellow players, observing the actions of «their» player, tracking typical and creative behavioral strategies, reactions that hindered or helped their «wards» in solving a specific situation.

At the end of the session, the participants shared their impressions of the game and the experience they had gained. The second-year students demonstrated a high level of interest in the process, showed creativity in finding new strategies for behavior in difficult situations for themselves, and received original practical experience that broadened their professional horizons.
