European Engineering Competition — European Best Engineering Competition
This year, Zaporizhzhia National Technical University will host the National Stage of the European Engineering Competition for the third time. The event will last for a week, from April 15 to 19, 2013. 32 students from technical universities of the country will participate in the competition. In addition to students who distinguished themselves at ZNTU, 2 teams from each of the local stages of the competition from Vinnytsia National Technical University (VNTU), National University «Lviv Polytechnic» (NU «LP»), National Technical University of Ukraine «Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» (NTUU «KPI») will visit Zaporizhzhia. Each team consists of 4 participants, determined to show the best results. The competition aims to determine the winners who will be able to adequately represent our country at the European Final, which will be held in August in Warsaw (Poland) and will bring together 112 students from 60 technical universities in 18 European countries.
The competition is held in two categories: Team Design and Case Study.
Team Design – team design, which involves solving an engineering problem and modeling technical structures by participants for a certain time in conditions of a limited set of materials with subsequent demonstration of the result.
Case Study – solving a problem of a technical or economic nature through discussion. As a result of their work, the team presents a method for solving the proposed task or a strategic model of action in a specific situation.
In the program:
- 9:30 – 10:30 – demonstration of technical models by teams from the Team Design category (project construction) in the cafe «Molodyzhne»
- 10:30 – 12:00 – evaluation of models by members of the judging panel
- 12:30 – 13:30 – official closing (speech of honored guests, announcement of results and awarding of winners) – will take place in room 320
The competition is organized by representatives of the Zaporizhzhia local group of the international student organization BEST in Zaporizhzhia.

- founded in 1989;
- exists in 94 universities in 32 European countries;
- its activities cover more than 1,000,000 students;
- annually more than 15,000 students participate in more than 100 international events.
Engineering competitions are held with the support of partners who provide assistance in holding the event and resolving technical issues, contributing to the development of students and engineering in Ukraine. The General Partner of the competition is OJSC «SunInBev Ukraine». Also a Partner is Diacom Group, a company that is not the first time supporting the National stage of the Competition and provides tasks for participants, which guarantees the possibility of implementing interesting technical solutions. The Trade Union of Students, Postgraduate Students and Doctoral Students of ZNTU is a permanent partner of both the Local and National stages of the Competition in Zaporizhzhia, which provides comprehensive support for their high-quality organization.
