Circle «Mechatronics. Fundamentals of programming» from the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic and the Polit NTTUM Center
During the first half of the current academic year, a number of regular classes of the «Mechatronics. Basics of programming» for students of Zaporizhzhia Academic Lyceum No. 23 in cooperation with Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University and Polytechnic Institute «NTTUM »Polit” Center.
The program involves introducing students to the diverse world of science and technology. During classes, students acquire technical and scientific knowledge, methods and techniques necessary for the production of effective technical objects and models, acquire skills in solving inventive problems and implementing projects.
The leader of the circle is Olena Nazarova, associate professor of the Department of Electric Drives and Automation of Industrial Plants, director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
During the class, the students got to know the micro:bit board, which is an excellent tool for learning according to the philosophy of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and its online programming environment MakeCode. By mastering a specialized block programming language, children learned to develop algorithms and write programs, use electronic devices, learned their principle of operation and specialized commands for controlling them, developed a number of mini-projects such as a magic ball, a traffic light made of LEDs, a compass, a smart lantern, sound and visual signaling, created several of their own games that develop not only mental abilities, but also reaction speed.
