Hardware Engineering Hackathon
On July 28-30, in Kyiv, at the initiative of YEP «Entrepreneurship University», the first Hardware Engineering Hackathon of the first graduates of the pilot course «Technological Leadership in Hardware Startups» from five leading universities of Ukraine was held: Central Ukrainian National Technical University, Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University, Donetsk National Technical University, Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute National Technical University and Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic was represented at the hackathon by two teams: «1eam» (Bohdan Rudim, Danylo Korohod, Oleksiy Ryabinin) and «Bottle for 3D print» (Marko Kulynich, Yaroslav Pisotsky).
During the semester and directly at the hackathon, students were supported by teachers of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Plants: Head of the Department Andriy Pyrozhok, Associate Professor of the Department Olena Nazarova and Associate Professor of the Department Volodymyr Osadchy.
To implement the startup ideas, the necessary equipment was purchased for the amount of up to UAH 20,000 for each team. The technology partner of the hackathon was VD MAIS.
The investment director of Horizon Capital, Andriy Brodetsky, spoke about the trends in financing hardware startups: from the features that investors pay attention to to using crises to their advantage. The participants learned more about technology trends and heard the final pitches in the open part of the Hardware Engineering Hackathon.
During the three days of the hackathon, the participants created their own projects, tested them in practice, refined their own business models and gained a lot of new knowledge and skills.
The 3rd place in the final was won by the team «Bottle for 3D print» consisting of Marko Kulynich and Yaroslav Pisotsky. Congratulations on the victory!
