Philosopher, artist, fighter
Within the framework of the nationwide project «Place of Honor and Gratitude», implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, and on the occasion of the celebration of the Armed Forces Day, a personal exhibition of the university teacher, gunner of a self-propelled artillery installation, senior soldier of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade named after Koshevy Ataman Ivan Sirko Volodymyr Viktorovych Gordiychenko was opened at the NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic». The opening of the exhibition was attended by the rector of the NU «Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic» Viktor Greshta and vice-rector Andriy Ivanchenko.
For many years, Volodymyr Viktorovych worked as a teacher of history, and later – philosophy. In classes, he could appear in the image of Descartes or Hryhorii Skovoroda. Students were delighted with him. Mr. Volodymyr does not betray his own creative purpose: he draws and sculpts. This has been his hobby since childhood.
Volodymyr Gordiychenko is from Yurkivka, Orikhiv district. He has four higher education diplomas. He is deeply immersed in philosophy, philology, and history. His creative output is long-term and large-scale, unique in style and personal worldview. In January 2015, he went to defend his country as a participant in the ATO. Under the pseudonym «Professor», he fought in the Donetsk region, the borders of the Kherson and Kharkiv regions.
In December 2021, a personal exhibition of our hero opened at the Kharkiv Historical Museum of Mykola Sumtsov. Later, the exhibition of Volodymyr Viktorovich opened in the art gallery of the Chuguiv Art and Memorial Museum of Illia Repin.
He met the fighters of the 92nd OMB on February 24, 2022 at the front and defended Ukraine for another four months. He gained authority as a skilled soldier who worthily performs professional duties, as a wise mentor of youth and as a kind of gifted designer. In his free time, soldier Gordiychenko, together with the brigade leadership, developed and personally decorated the room of combat traditions and the memorial room of fallen comrades.
Resigned due to health reasons. Volodymyr Hordiychenko does not feel very comfortable in retirement. He finds salvation from sadness in creativity.
Recently, his works of art were exhibited at the Zaporizhzhia Art Museum. The exhibition also presented another of the artist’s know-how – icons on pixels. The idea came to him several years ago, when the leadership of his team suggested that Mr. Volodymyr paint an iconostasis for a future chapel. Over the years, the artist has modernized the idea.
He still has many plans and dreams.
We are waiting for all interested people at the artist’s exhibition at the Museum of the History of Technical Progress of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University!
We are grateful to all our heroes who defend our state and protect everyone every day! Happy holiday to our Armed Forces of Ukraine! Thank you for the opportunity to be your reliable rear!
