Cybersecurity Detectives — a Race Against Time
On December 2, students of the «Carousel of Directions» group of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University completed their cybersecurity training from Cardiff University (Wales, Great Britain).
The topic of the lesson was «Cryptography». The children embarked on an exciting journey into the world of cryptography and cyberattacks, immersed in the interactive game «Cybersecurity Detectives — a Race Against Time!».
Together with Iryna Bernyk, a postgraduate student in cybersecurity at the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics at Cardiff University, the students investigated how cybercriminals use various methods to gain unauthorized access to someone else’s email. Our team of cybersecurity detectives uncovered hidden clues, deciphered encrypted messages, and learned how to protect confidential information.
We are grateful to Iryna Bernyk for preparing and conducting a series of cybersecurity classes for Zaporizhzhia schoolchildren, to Professor Omer Rana, Dean of the International College of Physical Sciences and Engineering, to Michelle Smith and Manny Morgan, and to the team of the international department of Cardiff University for supporting the initiative and creating favorable conditions for expanding international cooperation between Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University and Cardiff University.
We believe that this is just the beginning of a long and fruitful cooperation between our universities!

On December 2, 2023, our young students of the «Carousel of Directions» at the Children and Youth Scientific Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University completed their Cybersecurity course from Cardiff University (Wales, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
The topic of the class was «Cryptography». Our researchers embarked on an exciting journey into the world of cryptography and cyberattacks, immersing themselves in the interactive game «Cybersecurity detectives — a race against time!».
Together with Iryna Bernyk, PhD student in Cybersecurity, School of Computer Science and Informatics, Cardiff University, young students investigated how cybercriminals use different methods to gain unauthorized access to someone else’s e-mail. Our team of cybersecurity detectives uncovered hidden clues, deciphered encrypted messages, and learned how to protect sensitive information.
