Birthday to native chords
On March 9, all of Ukraine celebrated the 199th anniversary of the birth of our great countryman – Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. For Zaporizhzhia, this event was also marked by an all-Ukrainian festive competition-festival with the symbolic name «Khortytsia Kobzar». This is the second time this event is being held by the National Union of Kobzars of Ukraine, the Zaporizhzhia Regional and City Council, the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Regional State Administration, the National Reserve «Khortytsia», the regional philharmonic society and the regional center of the National Union of Kobzars of Ukraine with the aim of developing the traditions of national culture, which cannot be imagined without the work of Taras Shevchenko and the colorful musical instrument – the bandura. This event was also attended by our students, who eagerly watched the young talents, which brought together young kobzar-bandurists from Chernihiv, Sumy, Lviv, Zhytomyr and other regions, so that a competent jury could determine the best of the best.
The regional philharmonic was happy to welcome the guests in the M. Glinka Concert Hall. The talents first showed themselves in the morning in the competition program, where they performed two works of different genres, and then in the evening at the final gala concert. The age of the contestants did not exceed 16 years, so their numbers were not only fascinating, but also touching. It was nice to watch how sincerely a child in an embroidered shirt creates music. And most importantly, it was clear from the performers’ eyes that they liked what they were doing, and therefore, the main goal of the festival was achieved.
After the competition, the participants were awarded diplomas and certificates, commemorative souvenirs-books and gifts in the bandurist-vocalist and bandurist-instrumentalist nominations. The winners, who took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, received the titles of laureates and diploma holders of the All-Ukrainian competition-festival «Khortytskyi Kobzar». This year, the victory went to Lviv and the town of Malyn, which is in the Zhytomyr region.
A pleasant gift for the participants was the performance of artists from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Philharmonic, who, in accordance with the theme of the festival, performed excerpts from such famous works as «Taras Bulba» and «Bayda», as well as organized excursions to the Cossack Museum and the Historical and Cultural Complex «Khortytsia».
This year, the glorious Khortytsia united many regions of our native country around Ukrainian original traditions, let’s hope that next year there will be even more participants, because in 2014 it will be exactly 200 years since the birth of the most outstanding Kobzar, and this will be the III All-Ukrainian competition-festival «Khortytsia Kobzar».
