On February 19, 1992, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved by its resolution the National Emblem of Ukraine – a golden Trident on a blue shield.

The Ukrainian trident has become a symbol of statehood and independence. Today it unites Ukrainians who defend the freedom of their country.
