Zaporizhia Polytechnic University is taking steps towards barrier-free access!

On April 25, Vice-Rector of Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University Andriy Ivanchenko took part in the round table “Student Support Centers: Joint Solutions for Equal Opportunities”, which was held at the Western Ukrainian National University in the city of Ternopil.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within the framework of the implementation of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine by 2030 and the flagship project “Educational Barrier-Freeness: Opening New Horizons”.

The participants were welcomed by Advisor to the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Barrier-Freeness Tetiana Lomakina, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Andriy Vitrenko, representative of the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Anastasia Golotenko, Deputy Head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration Pavlo Zhurba, Mayor of Ternopil Serhiy Nadal, and Rector of the Western Ukrainian National University Oksana Desyatnik.

During the panel discussion, the experience of creating Student Support Centers was discussed and the first results of pilot projects were presented. Representatives of the Western Ukrainian National University, Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Ukrainian Catholic University, Mariupol State University shared their experiences and visions of development.

In offline mode, the participants visited the resilience center, the immersive multifunctional hub, and the student support center of the Western Ukrainian National University, and got acquainted with the methods of organizing their work with applicants with special educational needs.

It was also nice to see the results of the implementation of the joint project “WORK4CE”, the grantholder of which is Zaporizhia Polytechnic.
