Meeting with representatives of the translation agency MK:Translations
On June 24, a meeting of students of the specialty B11/035 «Philology» and teachers of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation with representatives of the translation agency MK:Translations (Kyiv) — personnel development specialist Yuliia Verbytska and senior manager of language projects, our graduate Olha Yakymchuk.
Olha shared her own story of professional development in the field of translation. She spoke about current trends in the development of the translation industry in the context of rapid technological development, career prospects for young professionals, employers’ requirements for a modern translator, and the competencies that are most in demand on the labor market today.
One of the key conclusions of the meeting: AI tools do not replace translators, but only automate routine processes and allow for more efficient processing of large volumes of material. At the same time, critical thinking, decision-making, responsibility, understanding of context and cultural features remain competencies in which humans have an undeniable advantage.
Yuliia Verbytska familiarized the students with employment opportunities at MK:Translations, current vacancies, terms of cooperation and features of the selection process.
Such meetings are extremely valuable for our students, as they provide an opportunity to communicate directly with representatives of the professional community, learn about the real requirements of the modern labor market, and receive practical advice on building a successful career.
We sincerely thank Yuliia Verbytska and Olha Yakymchuk for an interesting, meaningful and motivational meeting, openness to dialogue and willingness to share professional experience!
